Chapter 13
by Deepdarkwhisper
What do you do tonight?
Volunteer at Miranda's charity event
You decide like trying something different might help clear your head. After what just happened with Nicole, you think it'd be better to get out of the house. Not to mention, the idea of spending some more time with Miranda is very enticing. You text Miranda back and tell her you'd be happy to help at her fundraiser this evening.
Miranda texts back almost immediately. "Fantastic! I'll be by to pick you up in 30 mins. Wear something presentable, I like my helpers looking their best."
You quickly pick out a standard pair of black dress pants, a white button up shirt and your only pair of dress shoes. You feel a little awkward in the formal attire, considering you dont dress up too often. Hopefully it's good enough.
You check youself in the mirror as you see a luxury red car pull up outside. Then your phone rings. You pick up and tell Miranda you'll be right down. You hurry downstairs, only passingly telling your mom that you're going out before exiting the front door.
Walking up to Miranda's car, you admire her style. It's the kind of car that shows modest wealth. Nothing flashy or exotic, but clearly luxurious and expensive. The passenger window slides down and you get a look at Miranda. Her golden blonde hair is styled in curls and long gold earrings sparkle as she turns to look at you.
"Well, I assumed you would clean up nice." Miranda's eyes you up and doen as you open the passanger door and climb in. "Still, I am pleasantly surprised."
"Thanks... I don't dress up too often..." You reply as you buckle in. You try not to stare at Miranda's body beside you. Her body is drapped in a red dress that happens to match the car. The neckline of the dress is deeper than you're used to seeing her in. Even from the side you can get a good glance of her cleavage. You try to settle yourself, you are here to help and do a good deed...right?
Of course, Miranda doesn't help slow your heartbeat as she accelerates hard and you snake through traffic.
"I really appreciate you helping out today, Ryan." Miranda says between side glances at you. "You have no idea how attractive it is for a man to volunteer to make other's lives better."
"Honestly, I haven't volunteered since gradeschool. I really just needed to get out of the house. And really, if it wasn't you, I would probably be out with Jessica tonight." You wonder if that was a bit too forward, but something about Miranda made you want to tell her the truth.
"I'm sure Jessica is missing you tonight, but I'll make sure you enjoy yourself. In fact, I hope after tonight you'll reconsider how enjoyable volunteering can be."
You finally pull up to the hall where the charity gala is being held. You both get out of Miranda's car and start to walk towards the front door. Miranda slides her arm under yours and you walk side by side the rest of the way.
The hall is already busy with people setting up. Instantly someone comes up and starts filling Miranda in on the preparations. "Ryan... Can you help Melissa with setting up the tables and chairs?" You turn to see Melissa, a younger and pretty girl who vaguely reminds you of Miranda.
"Hi! I'm Miranda's daughter." Melissa shakes your hand, her feminie hand tiny and delicate in yours. "Come with me. I was hoping Miranda would come through with the strong man she promised. I hate putting out chairs." Melissa leads you to the back storage room where stacks of chairs are. "Can you put these out? Eight at every table."
"Sure, I can handle that." You unbotton your cuffs and roll up you sleeves.
Melissa pauses at the door, looking at you as you lift the first stack of chairs. "Come find me at the greeting table when you are done." You can't help but notice the same look in her eyes that Miranda gives you when you make her special coffee drink every morning. She makes eyes contact and seems to realise she was gazing at you. "Don't work too hard, Miranda will not be happy if I make you sweaty before the event." With that, she disappears down the hall.
Better get to setting up chairs.

Ryan's Cut Mitzvah
To get cut or not to cut
It has been over 20 years since abortions and contraceptives have been banned. In an effort to curb unwanted pregnancies, some communities have turned to vasectomies for young men after turning 19. These vasectomies are reversible and would generally be undone when a man marries and is able to financially support a family. In order to encourage young men to undergo the procedure, family and friends host “cut mitzvah” parties. Usually about one month after turning 19, if a man can produce a lab test showing 0 semen present, the man is showered in gifts at a party. Your name is Ryan, and today is your 19th Birthday…
