Chapter 3 by JohnLocke4 JohnLocke4

Which kingdom do you want to see?

Viridian

Kenny was in a cold sweat as he lay in bed; a nightmare that never seemed to end was plaguing him. Visions of cruelty, cowardice, and humiliation all at his own hands before it abruptly ended as his eyes sprung open and he was left trembling in his bed.

Kenny let out a groan, slowly sitting up and holding a hand to his head, "God...I feel sick," He meekly swung his legs over the edge of his bed and reached for his bedside table, feeling for his phone. However, as he felt around, he found nothing but the roughness of a rustic wooden table top.

At once, Kenny lowered his hand and began to look around his dimly lit bedroom, realizing everything wasn't as it should be. His room was at least triple the size of his normal bedroom. All his furniture, electronics, and posters were gone leaving only blank wooden logs. His simple bed was replaced with a king-sized feathered one, and as he jogged over, pulling open a set of high ceiling drapes at a window, he realized all of Greenwall was nowhere to be found.

"What the fuck? What the f-fuck?" Kenny backed away, his eyes wide with fear then a knock on the door sent him immediately crashing to the floor.

"Lord Kenneth?" A soft, timid voice called through a set of thick wooden doors. He nervously gulped, staring at the door that creaked open, "P-Pardon my lord," Kenny's eyes widened in some relief as the face that he was greeted with belonged to his cousin's best friend, but like everything else this morning, something wasn't right with Quinn Greene.

Her long red hair was neatly brushed back, hanging just past her shoulders, but instead of her usual attire of, say, a t-shirt and some jeans, she was instead wearing a long eye-catching emerald dress. He wasn't sure when the last time he saw Quinn presenting herself in such a way, perhaps at prom, but certainly not to this extent. The dress looks to be among the finest he'd seen, possibly silk, and it definitely wasn't in a style he was familiar with. Despite its fine nature and material looking brand new, something just felt old about it.

"Quinn?" Kenny slowly got to his feet,

"Yes, my lord," Quinn nervously chewed her lip as she kept her eyes lowered and anxiously wrung her hands, "L-Lady Juliet sent me for you. S-She asked that you be woken and reminded that you'll be needed to leave the castle for the afternoon today,"

Kenny raised an eyebrow and tilted his head, "What? Julie -- Castle?"

To Kenny's shock, Quinn all but jumped at his response, her eyes springing open in what was clear and genuine fear, "I'm so sorry, my lord! I only bring you Lady Juliet's words! I'd never have let myself into your chambers if it wasn't at her behest! Please. Please, I ask your forgiveness!" She rapidly apologized, her voice quivered, and she inched back towards the door, gaining further distance from Kenny,

"Whoa, whoa, what are you talking about, Quinn? I'm not upset with you," Kenny lifted his hands and took a small step toward the girl, "Why are you so afraid?"

Quinn's face went white, "P-Please, Lord Kenneth, I hadn't meant to o-offend you! I'll -- I'm so sorry!" Kenny attempted to calm the girl once more, but before the first word could even leave his mouth, Quinn clambered her way back out of his room, sprinting away.

Kenny stared at the doorway, bewildered, for close to a minute before finally gritting his teeth, "What the fuck is going on?!" With a loud huff, he turned around, glanced around his room, paused at what appeared to be a large dresser, and stormed over. Yanking it open, he could only shake his head at what he found inside. Linen clothes, laced-up shirts, vests, and pants, all like something right out of a renaissance fair. He couldn't be bothered to ask anymore; he needed to get the hell outside and figure out what was going on.

It took more than a few minutes for him to dress in the old-time outfit properly, but just as he was pulling a brown vest over his cream-colored shirt and started to tie it, his doors came crashing open. This time, he was met with his cousin, Juliet, her dark raven hair was curled and put up, and she wore a deep green dress that perfectly accented her healthy breasts and pert ass. However, her clear blue eyes might as well have been red from the clear rage boiling inside them, "Cousin!" Her voice boomed, and Kenny froze, staring at her, almost too scared to breathe, "How dare you!" She hissed, jutting a finger right into his face,

"H-How dare I what?" Kenny stammered back,

"I send my handmaiden to make sure you're awake, and you threaten the girl?!" Juliet's hands clenched, and Kenny was half certain she was about to hit him, "I told you, I won't allow you to **** the people I bring into our keep any longer! You do not have authority over the ones I bring into our home! You do not get to scare them just because you have power!"

"I -- I wasn't -- Quinn, she just --" Kenny stammered back, tongue-tied and utterly lost at Juliet's tongue lashing.

"Don't you even try to deny it! I know what you're like," Juliet sharply cut him off, "Now you will finish dressing, and you will leave this place at once until I've met with the diplomat!"

"Diplomat?" Kenny scratched the top of his head,

"Ugh! You are horrible! For weeks we told you the diplomat from Amaranthine coming, and I held no expectations for you to do your duty and speak with her, but at the very least, you could show me and the rest of this house the courtesy of removing the presence of your stink when she arrives." Juliet turned her back on Kenny in disgust, "Now leave. At once!"

The brunette stormed out, and Kenny was slack-jawed; never in his life had Juliet spoken to him with such resentment. He wasn't sure what he'd done, hell he didn't know what the hell was even going on, but if there was one thing about to overpower his curiosity about the situation, it was Juliet's threatening tone. So without another word needed, Kenny headed out of his bedroom.

It was difficult to figure out exactly where he was supposed to go; the layout of this building was nothing like the home he should have woken up in, but eventually, he reached a set of stairs that led down a floor, and he was immediately greeted by yet another familiar face. Stand only a few inches shorter than him, armed and armored, with jet black hair that was only neck long in length, was Tessa Westchester. As far as Kenny knew, she was the older half-sister of cheerleader Ellie, but considering what he was looking at and the world he was now suddenly standing in, he didn't know what to expect.

"Good morning, my lord," Tessa properly greeted the teen, her tone was friendly, to be sure, but Kenny could sense the reserved nature as well. She was clearly trying to remain professional, and once again, he was hearing the title, Lord.

"Tessa..." Kenny warily began, and seeing the brunette merely perk up at his voice; he relaxed, "I'm...to leave the castle this morning? I believe?"

"Of course, my lord," Tessa began to walk, and after a brief moment of confused hesitation, Kenny quickly jogged over, following the girl, "We've prepared your armor and tunic, as well as the horses, in advance to your specific orders. The tavern was sent word of your potential visit and has your wine and ale stocked as well,"

"Tavern, like...Snowdrop Tavern?" Tessa looked over at him,

"Yes...my lord?" She nodded, "That's the tavern you asked for, isn't it?"

"Y-Yeah, of course, the tavern," Kenny cleared his throat, "Let's get my...armor, I suppose," Tessa held her perturbed look on the man for a few more seconds before turning forward and continuing their walk to the armory in silence.

Does Kenny Go To The Tavern Or Elsewhere?
