Chapter 6 by Wolf13 Wolf13

Is that something you would like?

Very much a yes but she has questions

Penny. Is very surprised and even tears up a bit but smiles and enthusiastically nods her head and says, "Yes. I'd like that very much!"

Walt smiles and pats her hand. "Friday? Yes, that's an affirmative. Proceed with moving the transaction forward to finalization. Yes, I'm sure. That's right. You're getting blow back? Who from?" Raised eyebrow. "Put me through immediately."

That didn't sound good and made Penny nervous but he went from patting her hand to holding it firmly but gently. How odd that such a smile gesture makes me feel it'll be alright. She smiled being a living person was still so surprising.

"Hello Kelly. You know who this is? Good. Care to explain why you're giving me trouble on this. I don't care. Don't care. That's your problem, not mine. Do you know how many shares of this company I own? How much business is done between RD, Rein Corp and 3S not mention others on a daily basis? More than you'll make a hundred lifetimes. Either hit accept and have someone down here with my paperwork in 15 minutes or I will go over your head anyway and email your wife about how much that nanny character you bought "for the kids" really cost. You're kidding right? You know who I am. My people had all the info I needed on you before you picked up my call. Everything from your financials to your last exam results. N-a-double r-o-double u u-r-e-t-h-r-a. That specific enough for you? Hell, I can tell you what your doctors secretary had for lunch. Half a tuna sandwich, kale smoothie and an edible. At that Shaggy's place. Good. I expect that paper work in twelve minutes." Pause. "Thank you, Friday. Yes, we'll be leaving shortly. Have them pull the car around. You're the best."

"Does the man you spoke with suffer from tension problems?" Penny asked.

Walt laughed. "If he didn't before, I guarantee he does now." He looked down and was surprised he was holding her hand. "Sorry about that." He started to let go but she simply gripped it tighter. "Don't be. It's nice." They smiled for a moment before a rather flustered but cute Isabelle from Animal Crossings came toddling over.

"Mr Stark, sir. I was sent down with some paperwork for you. I was instructed to apologize for the delay-"

They both smiled at her. It's hard to remain perturbed in the presence of such cuteness. "Not at all Isabelle. Infact there's several minutes to spare. You did a very good job!" Walt had dealt with Isabelle's before and knew praise was what they usually wanted and this one was no exception.

"I did? You're not angry?"

Penny seemed to catch on quickly and patting her on the head, adding, "You did very well. Such a good model employee."

The ecstatic Isabelle happily handed over the paperwork which only needed a quick signature and initialization while another person came holding a bag that they explained held Penny's standard outfit and accessories and few meager possessions. We were told she could keep the waitress uniform.

After a quick note praising Isabelle and the rest of the staff in the often overlooked comments section Walt turned to Penny and held out his hand. "Would you like to go home now?"

"Home." Penny smiled nervously but hopeful. "Yes, I think I would like to go home."

She was surprised when the vehicle that was brought around wasn't a more luxurious model. While it was certainly large it appeared to be a more utilitarian type of vehicle referred to as a truck. Walt opened the door for her. "Sorry it's not as fancy as a limousine. I honestly wasn't thinking that I'd have company on the way back." he explained as he climbed into the drivers side.

"It's fine Walt. You're a very interesting friend."

"Oh, how so?"

"Well firstly you're obviously a person of both means and power, but it's obvious that you didn't start that way."

Walt chuckled as he drove. "Those things are both quite true and I suppose they are obvious observations, though I'm not sure I could have deduced as much or as well as you have when I was your age. Value experience, I suppose. That's quite the gift you have, Penny." He thought a moment while changing lanes. "Most everything I have, I was fortunate to have had the opportunity to earn for myself. There are some words of wisdom penned for anither world of heroes. Similar but quite different from yours. Would you care to hear them?"

"Yes, friend Walt!" Penny clapped and was thrilled to learn something new especially something that her new friend valued. "I would very much like to be hearing the wise words that you value."

Walt smiled as he looked over at comicbook shop. "A wise man's dying words imparted to a young hero just starting on his adventures were thus. With great power, comes great responsibility."

Penny mouthed the words and thought awhile before nodding. "Yes. Those are indeed wise words. Is that why you didn't follow through on your threat to the Kelly man and why you instead wrote nice things about the Isabelle person? Have you always abided by them, friend Walt?"

Walt smiled ruefully. "I thought I did once but I know looking back that I wasn't always successful." Making another turn he said, "I think the power of those words is not only to encourage into doing right but also to be able look back and recognize what they've done wrong. Honestly I'm not sure that a person can always do the right thing. But I think most people can recognize when they've been wrong." Another long pause and then Penny leaned her head against his shoulder. "Being a person is exciting but it is hard, isn't it?"

"It certainly is Penny. It certainly is."
