Chapter 328

How to manage a miracle?
Very carefully (Wendy wasn't the cherry-smash)
While his lawyer drove him back to the Hill, Matt got on the phone to Wendy.
"Hey Matt."
"Uh, this isn't Wendy."
"Yeah, she's in the shower. This is Daisi, of course. When I saw you were calling, I picked up her phone. I mean, she doesn't even have fingerprint ID enabled. How silly is that?"
"I guess this will be a lesson for her."
"But you can talk to me," Daisi continued. "Just because I'm not eighteen doesn't mean I don't date."
"Do you date?"
"Well I would if the right guy asked me out."
"Don't you think that could cause problems with Wendy."
Daisi laughed. "You're already dating half the girls in Peninsula. Why should one more matter. And you're dating both those Chinese sisters so obviously sisters don't bother you."
"Vietnamese," he corrected automatically.
"Whatever. What do you think. Want to date me. You can take my cherry if you want."
"I'm not sleeping with a sixteen year-old, Daisi. But maybe you can answer a question for me."
"What's that?"
"What's your mom have against me?
Daisi laughed. "She has plans for us. Wendy is going to be the lawyer. I'm smarter so I'm going to be the doctor. Of course that's just for education. We're going to marry rich guys and use their money to become major donors for the rich people party."
"Yeah, but how do I fit into that. I'm not exactly rich."
"You're exactly poor is what you are. She doesn't want us wasting our lives on poor guys. And she's got the whole eugenics thing going... you know, how poverty proves that people have bad genes so they shouldn't be allowed to breed."
"I didn't think anyone believed that crap any more."
"You'd be surprised how common it is in the rich people party. Not that they'll admit it since they've got the whole anti-birth control vibe going, too. But **** sterilization doesn't count as birth control so it's okay."
"Wow, you've really thought about this."
"Well, I'm supposed to become the doctor, remember."
"Yeah. Well--"
A scream from the other end of the call cut off whatever he'd been about to say, followed by what sounded like girls wrestling, hair-pulling, and slapping all punctuated by Daisi's laughter and Amy's increasingly shrill demands that Daisi turn over the phone... until the call abruptly ended.
"That doesn't sound encouraging," the lawyer said. "She doesn't just dislike you because you're a child pornographer who's out to deflower her perfect daughter, she hates you because you're poor, demonstrating bad genes and inadequate future earnings."
"Yeah, not the best. Plus she's got the simultaneous fixation on and horror of sexual expression."
"A lot of people get that when they have teenage girls."
"Fair enough. There are a lot of creeps out there."
The lawyer laughed. "Some might even say you were one of them."
Matt shrugged. "I try not to be. I like girls."
"Well, you've got a week to make one like you. But she definitely is a hard case."
"Any advice?"
"Run."
What is Matt to do?
The New Kid
A new town, a new school, but is it the same old you?
Matt's parents have moved to a new high-class suburb. He'll attend a new school but everyone else is rich... he's broke. Will he be an outcast, or can he find a way to make himself popular... and get laid?
