Vault F's Mission

To ensure their own survival and that they were never oppressed by men again, the founders of Vault F adopted a strict policy that nothing would get in the way of achieving their goals. Genetic modifications were absolutely necessary, and petty morality and ethical concerns could not be allowed to interfere when their very existence was at stake. The women of Vault F knew that if the surface ever became habitable, the patriarchy would return even stronger than before in a world ruled by violence, where bigger, stronger men would always have the advantage.

Forced Evolution Virus in its earlier stages was released by accident during the war that forced humanity underground. A rare side-effect of the virus was the growth of unexpected genitalia. This was the inspiration for Vault F’s campaign to create a world dominated by women.

Their first modification was the F-gene, which guaranteed only daughters to the Vault’s mothers, who were impregnated using sperm from the frozen archive. The F-gene further guaranteed that a significant number of those daughters would be born with certain male anatomy and viable sperm.

In the short term, this modification to their DNA allowed them to reproduce and thrive in the Vault. In the long term, they exposed their descendants to unforeseen evolutionary consequences. It is those consequences that Vault F’s Overseer is hoping to address by diversifying the Vault’s genetic pool with highly-evolved material from the surface.

The variants of the F.E.V. have, meanwhile, circulated on the surface for generations. Many women walk the surface with penises, but unlike the women of Vault F, these women do not have viable sperm.
