Vanessa wakes up.

You hear the bedroom door open, and a sleepy looking Vanessa walks in.
"Morning!" Olivia and you greet in unison.
"Morn'..." Vanessa murmurs half-assedly.
"I thought fit people woke up early." you tease.
"Shut uuuup..." she trails off sleepily: "I haven't slept so comfortably for a very long time... although my breasts are a bit sore."
You knew it!
"Do you want some coffee?" you offer.
"That sounds nice." she yawns as she run her hand through her blonde hair.

You leave Olivia to her book, and head out in the kitchen area. You brew two cups of some instant coffee for you and Vanessa, while she takes a quick toilet trip. You sit back down on the couch-beds, putting the back cushions back on.

"We should probably talk about some things." you say with a serious but kind of timid tone.
"Yeah..." she agrees, haven woken up a bit.
"Listen, about the kiss yesterday, I'm sorry, I sh-"
She shushes you.
"It's fine, don't worry about it. I came on to you just as much as you came on to me."

Sounds of cars from the streets below deafened as a strangling stillness crept over your tiny apartment. Both of you nervously fidgeting, both waiting for the question that has lingered over your mind ever since your lips touched to finally be uttered. You're both dying of a mix of anxiousness and curiosity, **** to hear the answer, but scared to ask the question that has to precede it. But the questions has to be asked. It must. It's the only way.

Finally, you bite the bullet.

"What did it mean?"
"Hmm?"
"The kiss. What did it mean to you?"

There it was, lingering in the air, waiting to be captured.

"I don't know." Vanessa admits. Normally this type of answer would be a bit of a letdown, but given you share the same sentiment, it feels relieving.
"Me neither." you reply.

There is another question waiting to be asked... "Do you want to find out?"
Unfortunately neither of you seem to be able to summon the courage for that. Instead Vanessa changes topic.

"I've been thinking, could we maybe stay here until Olivia gets back on her feet?" she asks solemnly... you think she already knows your answer.
"Of course." you reply sympathetically: "I was about to offer you exactly that. I've already talked to Ollie about it."
"Ollie?" she asks.
"Yeah, it's a nickname I gave Olivia."
"Oh... right..." she trails off as she fidgets with her coffee cup.
"..."
"..."
"Do you want a nickname too?"
"..."
"..."
"... m-maybe."
She totally wants a nickname.

"Well, Vanessa is a bit trickier. Nessie or Nessa, maybe?" you suggest.
"Hmm, sounds a bit... I don't know... ****?"
"Yeah, I see what you mean. Vee?"
"No, I've just been to the toilet."
"No, Vee."
"We what?"
"No, Vee. Are you doing this on purpose?"
"Oui?"
"Do you mean that as in "Yes, I am doing it on purpose", or did you think I said "Oui"?"
"You didn't say "Oui"?"
"I said "Vee"."
"Then what's the problem?"
"No, I said Vee. V-E-E, as in a potential nickname for you."
"Ooooh. Yeah that sounds cute. Short and simple too."
She blushes a bit for some reason. "Simple my ass" you think to yourself.

"What about you?" Vee asks.
"What ABOUT me?"
"Don't you want a nickname too?" she asks with a very excited tone.
She is being weirdly passionate about this. You let her have her fun.
"How about Asta?" she suggests.
"Yeah, that sounds nice." you conclude as quickly as possible to avoid any potential aneurysms.

Vanessa seemed genuinely confused about her nickname. So you have let in a sassy 18 year old biology nerd that's snarky on purpose (and has a fever and is probably not unleashing her full snark potential), and a kind 20-something fitness goddess that's snarky on accident.
