After Cain killed Abel out of jealousy, he drank his brother's blood and committed the unpardonable sin of blaspheming against the Holy Spirit. Upon selling his soul to the devil, he was then approached by Lilith - the primordial goddess of evil itself, who bit his neck, turning him into the first vampire.

"I Am" would respond by placing Abel's soul into a wolf and a few millennia later turn Red Riding Hood into the first werewolf as Lycanthropes are The Almighty's rogue agents against evil.

Can't swim (they're very dense and will sink. They are able to survive pressures that would crush a normal human though, which makes them great for deep sea missions that involve going to the bottom of the ocean)

Wooden stake through the heart

Blowing it up and either placing salt around or inside the body parts so they don't reattach (followed by burning and blessing the remains)
Blessing or replacing the dirt of its homeland (Irish soil is most effective as it's the holiest)
Ripping out and crushing the heart
Being uninvited by the homeowner (30-second escape window)
3 silver bullets (2 in the heart, 1 in the head) followed by a short prayer
Pouring holy water down its throat
Nightshade (in large amounts)

WHY VAMPIRES DRINK BLOOD

Aside from needing it to survive, drinking human blood allows vampires to see, feel and hear the happiest memories from when they were still alive, which is the only way vampires can experience true peace & happiness.

This sense of euphoric bliss only lasts a few minutes to an hour at best however, and when it's over, the vampire will have to endure the quick-yet-methodically-slow process of having to feel that bliss leave them until they return to their natural state of vampiric angst & dysthymia and all that's left is the memory of the feeling of happiness. Also, vamps don't have sweet dreams, only nightmares.

While humans aren't exclusive to their diet as animals such as rats, cats, dogs, deer and birds taste just as good and are able to provide bliss, human blood is what they're drawn to the most as it's the most fulfilling and provides the best escape to temporarily feel what it's like to be fully human again (something which even the most evil of vampires secretly want and yearn for aside from ****) and forget for a moment - even a brief one - that they're eternally damned demons, created for the sole purpose of fucking with God's creation.

WHERE DO VAMPIRES GO AFTER THEY DIE?

They don't. They're fate is what atheism thinks happens to us after we die (they are able to experience true peace & happiness in those few final moments though. Some are so relieved that their suffering is finally over that they cry; cry tears that don't burn their skin!).

ARE ALL VAMPIRES VILLAINS?

All vampires are evil but not all of them choose to embrace evil, despite knowing & accepting that they're eternally damned, will never be fully capable of being good or experience long-term love (no matter how hard they try, they will always relapse, followed by decades or even centuries of regret) and that God - even as Anna - is completely blind, deaf and unfeeling to their presence (just like the sinners of Hell), even in scenes where they're literally standing next to each other.

That being said, there are many bloodsuckers in Vixen that - while not good - find ways of doing good, either as solo anti-heroes, working with slayer groups and organizations like S.A.N.T.A. (even along side their natural enemies - the Lycanthropes) Either as full time agents or as informants to take down their fellow bloodsuckers who run global blood trafficking rings that especially prey on children!
