Vacation

Kyle leaned back in bed as Lucy climbed under the covers next to him. She flashed him a devilish smile as they sank into each other's embrace. "How's my favorite mortal?" Lucy cooed.

"Favorite? You mean there're others?" Kyle joked.

Lucy was about to playfully smack him when Kyle unexpectantly yawned. She grimaced and turned away from his face. "WHOO! And I thought Cerberus had bad morning breath!"

"I'm sorry," Kyle said, rubbing his eyes. "I've been so exhausted at work lately. My boss has really been riding us hard."

"Huh. I thought that was my job."

The two laughed at the bad joke. Lucy shook her head in disappointment at herself. "Sorry. That fruit was hanging lower than the apple in Eden."

Kyle stared up at his ceiling. "Man, I could us a vacation. I haven't had one in ages."

"Yeah, I could use one too," Lucy agreed.

Her trademark toothy grin reappeared. "Okay, that settles it then. You and me are going on vacation!"

"We are?" Kyle asked excitedly before he considered something. "How? I mean, I can't get a day off, and you're the Demon Lord of Hell!"

Reaching into her handbag, Lucy whipped out her bright red phone. She typed something into a text message before putting it back. "There! You and me both have at least three weeks of vacation time!"

Kyle was stunned. "We do? You found someone to cover you?"

"There are quite a few Hells in the Underworld," Lucy said. "And more than a few gods who owe me a favor."

"Awesome! But wait, how did you get me three weeks of vacation?"

Lucy's smiled grew wider and more mischievous. "C'mon, Kyle. A girl's got to have some secrets."

Kyle leaned over to her and kissed her. Neither of them could wait to go on a vacation with the other.
