“How about you toss me the key, and I don’t hurt you,” Kasha threatened, getting ready to throw her knives. What could the alraune do with Kasha out of reach?

The naked green woman frowned. “I’m afraid I don’t take kindly to threats.”

The ground beneath Kasha’s feet rumbled and shook, and suddenly several thick roots shot from the ground. A pair wrapped around each of Kasha’s wrists, squeezing tightly enough that she winced and dropped her knives. Another pair grabbed her ankles and lifted her into the air.

And a fifth whipped around in front of her, almost as if the alraune was considering what to do with her easily defeated prisoner.
