Chapter 5
by Warped-Wrist
How will you handle this Detective?
Use the rulebook, reason with him.
Trolls are creatures of the dark - but they are also sticklers for word games and deals. I can use this to my advantage.
"Put her down, gently." I order him as I flap open my coat and flash my Moonsquad badge.
"Turubahk griek nav tolok..." he grumbles in a grating scratchy voice.
"According to Article 17 section B of the Human-Fey Accord, you are not permitted to hunt humans in non-designated areas. More importantly, you need to have your conservation license. We can solve all of this if you can provide some ID."
"Girrubahk ragoohk dureeinan."
"That's not a good excuse sir, if you don't have the appropriate license to be hunting humans down here - which by the way is not a designated hunting ground, then you're going to have to release that girl." I affirm to him staunchly.
His eyes narrow and his mouth contorts to a dour frown. He scratches at his bumpy forehead as the girl swings like a pendulum watching me barter with this monstrous creature - struck silent by the conversation. The troll blinks his eyes slowly, each of the 3 eyes closing slower than the other. Trolls tend to do that to keep one eye always open on a target - in training we learned to identify behaviors of some of the more dangerous fey. It seems like he was thinking of a clever way to trick me into leaving him alone with the girl.
"Hegrehkturum dashkinim hzarbumnagatan. Traburum gahk nahg?" he spoke while turning one eye to the girl and the other two eyes firmly fixed on me. He gestured with his massive gray hand to the little street girl while talking - his fingers gently stroking her thighs eliciting a whimper from her.
He was offering a deal. It's always a deal when it comes to the Fey, especially the trollkin. Apparently, he's offering to let her go and be hungry if she satisfies his 'other' hunger. If she survives the mating, he'll let her go AND turn himself in for not having a license. If she doesn't - then she's no use anyway and he gets to eat the corpse and I get to put a strike on his record but not affect an arrest.
"Traburum gahk nahg?" he repeated again with raised eyebrows. Or, what would have been eyebrows if he had them.
I peered over the girl before answering. "I can't make that decision for her. I have half a mind to just arrest you and call it a day."
He screeched a horrible sound before huffing irritatedly at me.
"Hey, hey, calm down! I'll at least ask her and tell her your deal. Capische?" I proffer while I move closer to the dangling victim.
He nodded silently before gently laying her down onto an upturned concrete pillar - still keeping a grip on her to stop any attempted escape.
Oh boy, this is gonna be a fun one to explain.
Tell her the deal? Or try something else?

Moonsquad: Paranormal Police
For the things that go 'bump' in the night.
They exist. The stories were no joke - the demons, vampires, trolls, ghosts, specters, trolls, and fairies are no myth. They exist just beyond the normal sight of society. Always present, always watching, and hiding away from the ravages of mankind. Most play nice. Many others don't. For those that don't, mankind has the Moonsquad - secret and silent paranormal investigators bridging the gap between the Feyworld and ours. For the things that go 'bump' in the night, the Moonsquad bumps back.
