Chapter 7

What's the solution?
Use a power (Remote mechanical interface)
Using your mind’s eye you look into the circuitry of the towers security system.
Sirens go off and lights begin to flash.
“There is an intruder in the tower. Titans go!” Robin shouts. You have to play along to remove suspicion from yourself so you burst down the central corridor just like everyone else despite the fact you know there is no intruder.
In the commotion, Raven is able to slip away without anyone noticing her.
Ten minutes later
“One of the wires in the security grid overloaded. The surge must have tripped the alarms.” Cyborg reports as he closes the control panel you had remotely viewed moments earlier.
“Can you fix it?” Robin asks.
“Yeah, but I don’t know why it burned out in the first place. I check these systems regularly.” Cyborg replied in a confused tone.
“Please tell me,” Starfire asks as she looks around the hallway, “if everything is okay then where is our friend Raven? Perhaps she has been kidnapped by the intruder!”
“But Cyborg just said there wasn’t an intruder.” You retort.
“True, but it is unlike Raven to not be here. We’d better look for her.” Robin replies in an attempt to support Starfire.
Eventually everyone arrives back in the kitchen. To your surprise, Raven is finishing the meal you had started to prepare.
“Raven, where were you?”
When she turns around you are relieved to see she has returned to her normal manner of dress.
“I came back here once everything was ok to make sure the food wouldn’t burn. We wouldn’t want John’s first meal here at the tower to be ruined.”
It was a lame excuse but no one questioned it… at least not out loud.
The food you prepared turned out excellent and it proves to be a good balance to contrast with the strange antics of the group. Even while eating Cyborg and Starfire seem impulsive and outgoing, Beast Boy seems focused on finding the humor in everything, and Robin seems reserved and withdrawn. To everyone else Raven would appear to be her normal introverted self but whenever she looks your way you can see a little hidden smile.
“Wa… ouh!” Starfire abruptly burst out, “Raven, why are you tapping on my foot?”
“Ha! Raven and Starfire are playing footsie!” Beast boy exclaims with a hailstorm of laughter.
“Please tell me, what is this footsie?” Starfire asks, looking at you.
“I’m not playing footsie with her! It was an accident!” Raven screams at beast boy.
“I am uncertain but I do believe you have been trying to tap on my foot since we all sat down.”
“Ha, I was right!” Beast boy says as he begins to laugh even louder.
“I already told you…”
“Enough! If Raven said it was an accident then it was an accident.” Robin says, finally jumping in to put an end to the argument. Everyone stills looks confused, but everyone becomes quite.
You can only assume that since Starfire was sitting right next to you that Raven had mistaken Starfire’s foot for yours.
“Oh, yes… that’s right.” Raven abruptly said, breaking the long moments of silence that followed Robin’s stern remark, “I had promised you I would continue your tour and familiarize you further with the tower’s protocols. We can start on that after breakfast if you like.”
You’re pretty sure that was Raven’s way of discreetly saying she wants to be alone with you. You can’t tell from their expressions if anyone else realized this as well.
Do you take the hint and if so what happens?
