Chapter 14 by Zeebop Zeebop

How Does Lois Do That?

Use The Star Sapphire Ring To Scan For The Missing Women

Focus, Lane! The reporter told herself. She had written articles on Green Lantern and the Star Sapphires. Lois knew some of the things that the rings were supposed to be able to do...she just didn't know how to do them. And this was a magical copy...a facsimile...but if it was close enough to the real thing.

"Ring," she said, trying to focus the love in her heart on the burning circle on her finger. "Scan for the missing women. Diana Reynolds...Mara de la Cruz...Tonya Wong...Jenny Dunlap..."

The Star Sapphire on her finger burned bright...Lois could almost feel it extend itself, the violet light piercing through cement and shadow, flesh and wood and plastic in a great 360 degree sweep...and she could feel the power that scan was taking too.

Ring charge 74%...73%...72%....

Sweat began to drip from the reporter's forehead, body tense as she strove to keep her mind focused on the task. It was like holding off an orgasm, the same kind of slippery balance of mind and body, the pressure building steadily inside of her, the longer it took the harder it was to hold on.

Ring charge 71%...70%...69%...scan complete.

Lois gasped as the light suddenly died. A 3D image of the whole complex was emblazoned in her mind, and four figures were glowing, burning pillars. The four missing women...they were here! And they were all together, somewhere a few floors below. All that the faux-Star Sapphire had to do was go get them and...

She considered the ring on her hand. Only 69% charge...and no way to recharge it. If she used up all of her power getting to them, there might not be a way to get them out. On the other hand, she was dressed as just another super-whore.

Maybe I can sneak down there...save my power for when it counts. Lois thought, considering her options.

Does Lois Try To Be Sneaky, Or Go In Ring Blazing?
