“Alexa, you fly across the country, don’t communicate at all, and the next thing I know you’re telling the whole world that you wear diapers?!” Helen asked.
“M-mom… I…” Alexa stammered not expecting such a response from her mom. “It’s not like that….”
“I just can’t believe I have to find out through a youtube video,” Helen said. “I wish you had talked to us previously… I… I would have supported you.”
“I… I know mom… I’m sorry…” Alexa said.
“Hey, I miss you, okay,” Helen said. “But I just wish you had trusted me the way you’ve trusted some random stranger you met on an airplane.”
“It’s not just that…” Alexa said. “Michelle’s here too.”
“Hi, Mrs Johnson,” Michelle spoke up making her presence known. “Sorry for the method in which Lexi broke the news. But please don’t be too hard on her. She’s gone through a lot in the past few weeks. It’d be difficult to explain everything.”
Mrs Johnson sighed. “Well, just make sure I’m at the wedding and I’ll forgive you. Also, congratulations you two. I can’t be too upset I suppose. I also can’t say what the reception will be like here… but I just want you to know that I’m here for you. Okay? And try to call once in awhile, please?”
“Yes, mom,” Alexa said. “Sorry, mom. And you’re welcome at the wedding too.”
