Upgrade to B class, and Dr. Erika asks about specializations

“I’m thinking about upgrading my class a little to B, so I can make a bit more money. I think the extra risk is worth it,” you say, a little nervous at there being some more risky experiments in this class.

“B class is a reasonable upgrade from A. You might get some slight reactions to experiments, but there shouldn’t be anything life threatening or permanent,” Doctor Erika says with a confident tone. “Would you like to opt into a specialization, or stay open to anything?” she asks.

“Honestly, I don’t know. You said depending on which one I choose, I might stay in a solo group. Which ones would let me do that?” you ask, nervous about what the answer might be.

“There are two. One is specialization R which is injectables. Basically, everything will involve needles specifically. This one is really unpopular, so it offers far more money and I’d let you stay solo.” Your mind races as you think about getting hundreds, possibly thousands, of needles throughout the year… “What’s the second option?” you say quickly, clearly eager to get past that suggestion. “The other one, seeing as you’re 18 now, is specialization X. Do you know which one that is?” she asks in a gentle tone, a slight smirk appearing on her face.

“That one’s the adult only specialization, right?” you ask, intrigued by the suggestion.

“That’s correct! Last year we couldn’t offer this one to you, but now I can! If you pick this one, I’ll allow you to remain solo. The experiments in this specialization are, however, sometimes on the more dangerous, or less predictable, side of things. Your class would be more like a range between B and D. Which is a bit scary to hear, I’d imagine. The chance of something negative happening with this type of medication is... increased,” Doctor Erika says, her tone still very gentle and professional.

“What kind of experiments would I do in this specialization?” you ask.

“Mostly we test brand new pills, which help with erectile dysfunction, or aphrodisiacs, and stuff of that nature. You don't need to have erectile dysfunction to know that the medication works. If I'm being honest, often, the pills do nothing. Especially those pills, which say they increase the size of the penis. In the entire year we’ve been in operation, I haven’t seen one of those types of pills work.” She says nonchalantly.

You shift in your chair a little, and think about the options she has presented to you. Either lots and lots of stabby pointy poky needles, or some more dangerous and unpredictable experiments which could have any number of adverse side effects. Both options really aren't fantastic, however the upside of that one being called adult only... well, it makes the brain think about what could happen. The X specialization might be pretty good... that does it, you're convinced. “I think I’m going to go with specialization X. I think that sounds better than being injected with needles over and over,” you say with a laugh. This whole time your leg has been bouncing nervously, and you had not even noticed.

A smirk appears on Doctor Erika’s face. “Excellent! I am very pleased you picked that one. One of the many upsides to this specialization is I will give you the ability to say no to most experiments without too much hassle. Consent is very important when dealing with delicate situations, especially those of a sexual nature, she says, the last part in a dead serious tone. “All you have to do is trust me, and everything should work out. Now, if you’re content with that decision, I will print the contract and then I’ll just need your signature in a few places.

“I think I’m fine with upgrading to a class B-X.” you say, attempting to muster up some confidence.

“Perfect. I think you’re really going to enjoy this. It pays way more, and I think I forgot to mention specialization X comes with a dorm room here, since some experiments will require some overnight observations,” she says, once again a smirk appearing on her beautiful face. “Just sit tight and I’ll be right back with your contract.”

Doctor Erika gets up and walks into the other room to collect the new contract. A minute later, she returns holding a decent stack of papers with dense writing on it. You know you should read through the whole thing, but you couldn’t be bothered. Dr. Erika said to trust her, after all. “Could you summarize what’s in this for me?” you ask.

“Certainly! The first few pages talk about how you’ll receive some more dangerous experiments and then the accompanying liability forms which must be signed. Then there are some forms talking about consent in some sexual activities if it's required to complete the current task. Then the final pages are talking about your new dorm, and some conditions of you staying on the premises for observation. Once again, depending on the experiment, you might need to stay in there for observation and continued testing. It’s all very straightforward and simple, so if you want to just sign in the highlighted spaces, you can.” Dr. Erika hands you a pen, with a warm and caring smile on her face.

"I should probably read through the fine print, just to be sure," you say, lifting the cover page.

"Nonsense, I just explained all the details to you. I told you earlier that you'd need to trust me for this specialization, but that seems like it might be an issue..." she slouches back in her chair, her body language suddenly extremely cold.

"No no no, it's okay. I don't know what I was thinking. Here, I'll sign everything." Without further delay, you flip to each page, which required a signature. Eight in total. You hope this will all be worth it.

“Excellent! You will not regret this decision! I’m sure of it. Now that concludes the paperwork side of things, but now we have one more thing we need to do before I can let you leave for the day. Just your annual examination. Nothing major.”
