Unlimited Wishes

In every movie, tv show, and online fiction involving genies, there are specific constraints on what one can wish for. Aladdin couldn’t just wish for Jasmine to fall in love with him. Most importantly, you can’t just wish for unlimited wishes.

As it turns out, magic is not constructed in order to facilitate good storytelling. Magic is just magic, and it is not constrained by rules that prevent it from breaking the system. Breaking the system is kind of its whole thing.

Still, when Rob found the classic Middle Eastern-style lamp in an Antiques Shop and brought it home, he was doing it basically as a joke. He had never run into magic in his everyday life, and therefore assumed it did not exist.

But just because something is rare, that doesn’t mean it doesn’t exist. Rob had never seen a Tasmanian Devil in the wild, either, but he believed they existed. So maybe he shouldn’t have been so surprised when he rubbed the lamp and out came an extremely hot female genie.

He made this wish at least partly in an effort to prevent the genie from finding loopholes that might cause some of his future wishes to go awry.
