Chapter 51 by techtactic techtactic

Good question - what ARE you seeking in the temple of the succubus queen?

Uncertain, but she explains

You find yourself blushing before the succubus. Her dress reminds you strongly of the sisters from the abbey, though her silver skin and lavender hair belie her nature, and the fact the fabric nearly betrays the contours of her figure. You are acutely aware of your own nudity and of the gasps and moans of the orgies taking place all around you. “I…I don’t know. I was looking- I just came inside…”

You trail off, blood rushing furiously to your face. To your relief she does not laugh, merely smiles in understanding. “Of course,” she says soothingly. She pressed a hand against your back, and you make no resistance as she leads you deeper into the temple. “Do not fear. So many within this world and the next find themselves lost. But do not worry Sabine, as before, I shall guide you.”

You start. “A-as before?” you ask.

“The succubus queen knew the intrinsic truth behind gaining happiness,” the demoness continues as if you never spoke. “All need purpose. To serve, or be served. Just as she had with her great love above the world. She saw her, and knew that her purpose was not, in fact, to fight. That she desired to serve. And thus Hecata took her, and gave her purpose in serving her, and from their love was born a child, one who will one day lead us all to the lover her mother promised.

“We follow this commandment, and exist to guide those who come here to their true purpose.”

She pushes aside a curtain and leads you into a lovely room. You are surrounded by white stone and tall statues of the succubus queen. A couch of stone lies in the centre of the room, pillows thrown over it in a sumptuous tide of fabric. Without a word she guides you to this and sits you down beside her.

“You said…you show people their true purpose,” you say uncertainly, looking over your shoulder at her. “I just want to get back to the other world.”

“Sabine, you have tried so many times,” she says calmly, her mouth forming the syllables of your name as if tasting each.

“I have?”

“You have. You’ve come so far. But tell me, Sabine, what is it that will make you happy.”

You squirm a little as she presses you against her body, but she makes no other overtures towards you, and by degrees you find yourself relaxing against her. “I…I don’t know,” you say honestly, staring at the forbidding statue of their goddess looming from its stand. “I just woke up here, and getting back home seemed the best thing to do. I don’t think I want to stay here. But…”

“But you don’t know if he other world is that which you desire,” she says.

You nod slowly. “I suppose.”

She touches a nail to her mouth, looking upward into the face of one the statues as if seeking divine guidance. “Let us consider the truth of your situation Sabine. You have arrived upon this world, and believe you must return. But, tell me, have you perhaps considered what if this is where you belong?”

You frown and start up to face her. “How can that be?”

She places a hand on your shoulder to keep you there. “Forgive me, not belong. But, rather, have you ever considered if your purpose might not be here? That your seeking of a way to get back was merely a means to give yourself direction? Consider, Sabine, what if you were meant to be here?”

She might have a point, you admit, sinking against her and the bedding of the couch. Since you arrived you’ve wanted to get back, but really, was that no more than a simple desire to escape? Some purpose towards which you could strive and the eventual freedom from danger? What did you truly desire from that?

“I suppose it might be,” you admit reluctantly.

The succubus nods sagely. Her fingers trails along your chin, her palm resting beneath and tilts your head back and against the softness of her gossamer robes. “It is true. We here at the Temple are all those who have sought purpose for so long, and finally have found it. You see, Sabine, as did Hecata, we have found that some have a need to serve, and we here have others who need to be served, but we do so out of love, not a desire of domination, of subjugation as so many in this world do. We want those who must serve to feel they do so out of love, not obligation or slavery, and those who must be served to in turn love and care for those beneath them.”

“It does sound nice,” you confess.

“It is. Sabine. Might your purpose not to be one of these? To seek fulfillment in the service of another? To be served by others and care for them?” Her hands trail across your sides and rest upon your hips, gently pressing you against her leg, but the motions guiding rather than forcing, as if directing your own movements. “Shall we not see if this is true?”

You hesitate. “And, I can leave if I refuse?”

“We would never keep you here by ****,” she whispers. “Our chains are locked by those who would choose to wear them.”

Do you accept the offer and see what the temple has to offer?
