Jack used his key and stepped into the presidential suite like a man returning from war. Guilt and hope churned inside him, a volatile mix. The silence was thick, save for the hiss of water from the bathroom. A moment later, it stopped.
She was still here.
Lydia emerged, hair damp, a hotel towel clutched around her shoulders. Her eyes, wary but calm, met his.
"Jack," she said. "What are you doing here?"
He crossed the room too fast, unable to stop himself. "The doctor just called. It's done. The Count is gone—we finished it. You're safe now."
She stood still. “So it’s over?”
He nodded. “Yes. You made it. We isolated you for your protection, and it worked. You’re still you. We can finally—start again.”
Something in him cracked when she smiled. Relief, love, longing—all tangled up. He reached for her, and she didn’t resist. Their lips met. The tension dissolved like mist.
Six months of passion, secrecy, and shadows had built to this moment. She was warm against him, familiar. He kissed her again—**** to reclaim something real after everything they’d endured.
They moved together to the bed. He held her like a man clinging to a ledge, feeling her heartbeat, memorizing her breath. There was need between them, unspoken and raw, but it wasn’t about lust.
It was about survival.
She looked up at him, soft and unreadable. Her fingers tangled in his hair.
"I want to believe you," she said. "That I'm still me."
"You are. I know it." He cupped her face gently. “We’ve come through fire for this. For each other.”
But something flickered behind her gaze. A glimmer of... pity?
Her hand slid to the back of his neck. Her voice dropped to a whisper.
“Jack... what if I already crossed the line?”
He froze.
She held him close, her breath brushing his ear.
“What if it happened... before you killed him? What if I’d already fed? How could we be together then?”
His breath caught. He pulled back to look at her, but the woman beneath him wasn’t the same. Her pupils had swallowed the blue from her eyes. Her expression—serene, dangerous—held no fear. Only knowing.
Only power.
Jack reeled back, but her grip was iron.
He stammered, searching her face. “Lydia... no. You would’ve told me. We—we did everything right.”
She tilted her head. “Did we?”
The room closed in. His eyes darted toward the bathroom, catching the edge of something crumpled on the tile. A shape. A uniform. A hand.
It was already too late.
Lydia leaned forward, her voice soft as silk. “I let you believe you saved me. Because I wanted to see if you’d change. If you’d let go of control.”
She loosened her grip.
He didn’t move.
“But you didn’t,” she said. “You still came here thinking I needed saving. That I was yours to fix.”
Jack’s throat tightened. “Lydia, I loved you.”
She smiled again, this time almost kindly.
“And that’s what made you dangerous.”
Lydia held his head in one hand, his cock in her other. She was temptation, her kiss slid lower - her fangs found his jugular and then, his heart. She stroked him, she drank him.
Later, she stood at the window, a dress draped across one arm, two bodies cool behind her, watching the city shimmer below. The night was calling her—louder now. Hungrier.
The past week had changed everything. But the truth was: she had been changing long before that.
Power didn’t come from the Count. He was just a mirror, a portal she stepped through. The real transformation began the moment she stopped asking for permission.
Jack had kept her locked away, “for her protection.” And she had let him, for a time. But now?
Now she was free.
Her phone buzzed. A message from Bethany—Jack’s sister. The outcast. The only one who saw the truth in Lydia’s eyes.
“In town for the weekend. Want to catch up?”
Lydia smiled. The news hadn't spread, yet.
Maybe she’d meet her. Maybe she wouldn’t.
Maybe she’d start a new life. Or maybe there were still some debts to settle with Jack’s family. But one thing was certain:
Lydia was no longer anyone’s secret. No one’s prisoner.
And whatever came next, she would choose it.
