Two

Alex looked shocked, seeing what was once his sole Pokémon partner now split into two. The Gardevoirs seemed to be a bit shocked as well, staring at each other with confused blank expressions.

"Gardevoir!" Alex ran up to the two, a bit unsure on which was his actual partner but still rather concerned. "Are you okay? What happened? Which of them is actually you?"

The Gardevoirs turned to their trainer only to turn back to each other. A slight psychic reading of each other's minds showed the two that both of them were attracted to Alex, and a Gardevoir's jealousy couldn't allow that.

The Gardevoirs jumped back, ready to battle. Despite Alex's look of worry the Gardevoirs knew they couldn't let such a duplicate continue to run free. Both of them fired Psybeams at each other, the lasers clashing between them like a psychic beam clash. They teleported closer to each other and attempted to blast each other away with Moonblast, the sparkling balls of light causing some explosive bursts between them.

Alex watched as the Gardevoirs teleported around and pelted each other with attacks. He wanted to stop them and find some way to prevent his Gardevoir from getting hurt, but which of them was his Gardevoir?
