Two-thirds perfectly

After your near-depravity experience, you get the easy job. Jenny is getting the cover off the vent you’ll all use to escape, and Stump is shutting off the generator. Or rather, she’s probably just staring at all the buttons and levers on the control panel to figure out which one turns it off. You, on the other hand, get to stand watch. All you have to do is freak out if anyone sees you. Easy! Freaking out is second nature to you! Err, except it’s not, because you’re a cool, collected lady who never panics.

Professor Stump figures things out quickly enough despite the **** in her system. She’s a professor, so she’s always smart. But Jenny needs help with the vent, so Stump goes to help her. She points at a big red lever and tells you that’s the one to pull when you want to shut off the power. They finally get the vent uncovered and urge you to shut the power off and follow them, but right before you do, the worst possible person walks around the corner. The Team Rocket Boss, and two guards at her sides. She looks straight at you. There’s no way she doesn’t see you, but she can’t have seen Jenny and Stump yet. With a gulp, you shut your eyes and pull the lever. At least they can escape…

“And just WHAT do you think you’re doing, ****!?” The boss’s voice tears down the hallway, piercing the newly arrived darkness and making your ears shake. At least that should prompt your partners to get out of here.

“Uh, I-I don’t really, I was just, umm…” Any coherent thought you were forming dissipates when one of the guards shines a flashlight at you, forcing you to throw your hands in front of your face to avoid being blinded.

The boss continues, “First that foolish scientist and the snooping cop broke into here, and now a simple country girl thinks she can break out! I’ve had it with this kind of disrespect! Never mind making you a grunt. I’m going to break your mind into a thousand pieces and make an example of you to anyone who thinks they can escape this place! You DISOBEDIENT PILE OF TRASH!”

Her words must scare you senseless. Otherwise, you wouldn’t say something as ridiculous as, “I-I, uh, challenge you! To a pokemon battle! For my freedom!” …Huh!? Why did you say that!? You don’t even have your pokemon with you, that doesn’t make any sense-

“You don’t even have any pokemon!” one guard objects. “That don’t make any sense.” Yeah, you agree! Which is why you still aren’t sure why you said that-

The boss replies, “Sure.” The single word hangs in the dark, still air for several seconds.

“Huh?” one of the guards asks.

“I said ‘sure’. This unruly slavegirl seems to think she can best me in a pokemon battle, but there is no world in which a shackled whore is superior to me. If there is any corner of her heart where hope still resides, it’s my duty as the leader of Team Rocket to crush it thoroughly and without remorse. Now someone go to the storage room and get her damned pokeballs.”

Another guard asks, “B-But what about the lights? Shouldn’t we turn them on fi-”

*SMACK*

“The dumb bitch doesn’t have a flashlight. You two do. Get it yet? Good! Now get going!”

Footsteps clop down the hall and around the corner. Silence hangs in the air for a solid minute as everyone waits for the guard’s return. You still can’t believe she’s even accepting your challenge. She’s right that having the lights off works in her favor, but you didn’t turn them off for yourself in the first place. You just have to keep them off long enough for Stump and Jenny to escape. As long as you can do that, then they can tell the police, and free you later. There’s no telling what Team Rocket will have done to you by then, though…

The footsteps arrive just as noisily as they left, and a backpack gets thrown at you haphazardly. Well, looks like this is it… Gulp!
