Twister

Gillian pulled a box from her bundle. It was perhaps a foot square by four inches deep. It was mostly white with bright red letters on it.

“Twister?” Linda wondered as she read the name on the box. A rather amused smile appeared on Cindy’s face. It was matched by the one on yours. It was not the type of game you expected from the straight-laced tutor. There would be a lot of opportunities to grope your opponent.

“It’s the only game I could find.” Gillian explained. There was short silence before you realized everyone was looking at you to give the rules. You opened the box and handed Cindy the spinner while you spread the plastic sheet on the floor. It gave you time to figure out what to say.

“The rules are simple.” you started, “Everyone gets a limb and color. We spin to see which two players compete in the round. If only one player is selected, he or she gets to choose their opponent. After each spin, both players have five seconds to place the appropriate limb on the proper color. Both players have to hold it for thirty seconds before the next spin.”

“If you move the wrong limb or hit the wrong color, you lose.” you continued, “You don’t get the right limb on the right spot in the five seconds, you lose.”

“If anything but a foot or hand touches the plastic, you lose.” Cindy added.

“Loser has to take off a piece of clothing.” you told them. Neither Linda nor Gillian seemed overly happy about the penalty for losing, but it was hardly unexpected.

“House rules:” Cindy announced after a moment, “One! Everyone has to take their shoes off and keep their socks on. Two! The two people not playing a round have to down a drink. Any questions?”

“What if you don’t have anything to take off?” Gillian asked nervously.

“You have to do whatever the winner tells you to do for two minutes.” you told her. You looked around, but no one said anything. “Gillian, you get to spin first to see what color and limb you get.” It didn’t take long to divvy up the limbs and colors.

Gillian was Right Foot and Red
Linda was Left Hand and Blue.
Cindy was Right Hand and Yellow.
You were left with Left Foot and Green.

“Shoes off everyone!” Cindy called out. You quickly kicked off your shoes off.

They were quickly joined by Linda’s moccasins and Cindy’s sneakers. It took a second prompting before Gillian revealed her multicolored socks. “Let’s see who’s up first.” Cindy grabbed the spinner and gave it a turn. All eyes followed spinning arrow.
