Turning point

One night, while playing on the computer, you hear banging on your door, so you stand up to check it.

"What?" you say as you angrily open the door, only to be greeted by an equally angry girlfriend.

"Why don't you pick up your phone!?" Jenny yells back.

"Sorry, I was in the middle of a game, I didn't hear it ..." you say quickly, stepping aside to let her walk in."Why, what happened?".

You are a little surprised by her anger since it's not the first time you've missed a call, but it's never been an issue.

"Look!" she says, shoving her phone into your hands while stepping inside.

"Hm...?" On the screen is a video of a large wolf attacking people in a car and getting shot down by the police. "It looks like a werewolf..."

"It is..."

"Is it real?"

"What do you think?"

"There's no way they will allow this to stay on their platform ... it should go away soon."

"It's weird that this is even there ... the council should be able to take it down, but the video is already everywhere."

"I'm sure it's fine ... is this why you called me?" you hand her phone back and check yours and see that she called you 8 times in 20 minutes.

"You don't think this is important?"

"Sure it is ... but it looks like a big wolf that attacked people."

"There's no wolf that moves like that!"

"They don't know that!" you say as you go back to your game.

"I can't believe you don't care about this. Look at the comments!" she looks at you in disbelief. "This looks like a werewolf, clearly a werewolf, werewolf ..." she continues to read comment after comment.

"Look!" you say as you take her phone back."Is this a movie?, It can't be real, Fake!". "See? Some people don't believe it, and frankly, I don't either. There is no reason to attack a family in a car surrounded by people who will be filming you on their phone in HD, with cops nearby."

She disagrees with you, but you continue." He looks kind of weird too, his movements aren't quite right either, so it's either a really good costume or a very weird werewolf, and since the Council let it be on the internet, then it's clearly fake."

Her notifications keep pouring in, as both Nicole and Leyla seem to disagree with you, judging by the conversation they're having in their group chat, so you leave them a message "Stop making stuff up, you are creating panic for no reason!"

"Max, is that you? What, you don't believe it's real?"

"I bet it's some kind of experiment gone wrong"

"This is so dumb!" you say, tossing her phone back. "You are free to spend the night here if you are scared."

"I can't believe you think this is fake..."

You shrug your shoulders and return to your game as your teammates yell at you for being AFK.

"Want to go eat something?"

"Sure, let me finish this game" You say as you look at the clock and see there is plenty of time left before the stores close.

While you concentrate on the game, you hear Jenny yell "It's on TV!"

"What is?"

"The video!"

"Huh?" And sure enough, it's on the biggest news channel in the country with a 'breaking news' banner. "I've got to go ..." you say to your teammates as you close the game to stare at the TV in disbelief. Even more surprising, it's the same for every other news station with people discussing the video. "Maybe there really is something more..."
