Turn off the alarm!

There was a groan as Rachel reached over to her nightstand and hit the dismiss on her phone. She slowly sat up, rubbing the sleep from her eyes and yawning as she tried to adjust. She looked around her room, looking at her desk, closet, and dresser. Yep, just like she left it: a mess. Papers scattered around her computer, clothes hanging out of her dresser and her closet half open to reveal a laundry pile on the floor. Perfect.

She climbed out of bed and grabbed the nearest clothing items she could get ahold of: a pair of jeans and a blue t-shirt. Throwing them on over herself, she glanced at her reflection in the mirror on her closet door. Small, no muscles, minefield face, and crazy, black hair. Yep, another dose of motivation to be ugly and avoid everyone. She grabbed her bag and made her way out of her room, almost immediately running into her mother.

"Oh, sweetie, I'm glad you're up," the older woman stated. She was wearing her blonde hair up in a ponytail, her glasses a little crooked on her face. She was in the middle of getting ready for work. She stood in her bra and a pair of slacks and the only makeup she had on was her lipstick. "Have you seen my blouse?"

Susan had been working as a secretary at a law firm for a couple years now. It didn't require much experience. All she had to know was how to take orders from her boss, Ms. Ramirez. She was paid decent and she didn't mind the work. Mostly. But she was often a bit scatterbrained outside of work, too busy trying to remember things for her boss.

"It's in the dryer, mom. I put it in last night."

Susan smiled and kissed her daughter on the cheek, giving her a tight hug. "Thank you, dear. I was worried it was in my hamper, buried under dirty clothes."

Rachel pulled away from the hug with a smile, looking towards the kitchen. Usually, Emily had breakfast cooking by now. "Emily here?"

Susan shook her head, brushing her baby girl's hair behind her ear. "No, hon. She had to go in early today. But don't worry, she'll be off tonight. I made sure she wouldn't miss your big day."

"Mom, my 'big day' was two days ago. I'm already eighteen. We're just celebrating tonight cause it's Friday."

Susan pouted as Rachel reached up to adjust her glasses for her mother. "I know but that doesn't mean we can't act like today is your big day anyways! For now, go make yourself something small and get your stuff. The bus will be here before you know it."

The disheveled mother gave her daughter another kiss on the cheek, smiling at her. "Have a good day at school, baby. When you get home, everything will be set up and waiting for you."

Rachel nodded quietly to her mother as the woman walked towards the laundry room to finish getting ready for work. Honestly, Rachel wasn't too psyched about the "party" they were gonna have tonight. Out of the entire school, she only had three real friends. And only one of them was going to make it to her house tonight. She was tired of the disappointing parties.

She walked into the kitchen and grabbed a bag of poptarts from the pantry when she heard the coffee pot start. She turned around to see her sister, Victoria, standing on the other side of the kitchen, making coffee. She had her brown hair in pigtails and was wearing her skull and crossbones shirt, the thing barely covering her purple panties. Victoria had her back to Rachel, arms crossed as she waited for coffee.
