Turn Left

“I want to say to go left. Yeah, left I guess,” She says with out the most confidence.

John cautiously turn the car to the left. With the setting of the sun, his headlights are his only source of light. The world falls from a haze to soup of shadow on shadow. The full moon raises but this only serves to increase the contrast of shadow and shade. Wolves howl, and phantoms dash in and out of the mist. The road was barren nothing but the shadow of aching trees crossed it. Energy seem to fill the air. The road slowly becomes increasingly winding.

“I’m so sorry. I’ve made things worse,” says Sarah.

“Don’t worry, I won’t let anything happen to you.” The words surprised even John as they exited his mouth. “What’s that light up there?”

“I think it’s a store. Maybe we can get directions,” suggest Sarah.
