Chapter 7 by Herrin26 Herrin26

What's next?

Try to regain control.

Jane's heart hammered in her chest as the cool air kissed her damp skin. She yanked harder on the leash, her cheeks burning with embarrassment as she tried to get the creature to stop. The varren, however, was on a mission, its eyes locked onto something ahead that had its full attention. Jane's eyes darted around the quiet neighborhood, hoping none of her neighbors were out to witness this mortifying spectacle. The streets of the Nexus were usually bustling with activity, but today the gods of embarrassment had decided to grant her a moment of solitude.

The sound of Eezo's claws clicking on the pavement and her own bare feet slapping against the ground echoed through the air as she was dragged along. Jane's hand tightened around the leash, knuckles white with the effort of trying to slow the varren down. The beast was relentless, his excitement palpable as he pulled her closer to the source of his interest. She could feel the muscles in her arm strain and her feet stumble, the urgency of the situation mixing with the fear of tripping and adding injury to her current lack of dignity.

Her eyes remained glued to the path ahead, desperately searching for anything that could help her regain control of the situation. The sight of a small park around the corner brought a glimmer of hope to her panic-stricken eyes. If she could just get Eezo there, maybe she could coax him into stopping long enough for her to come up with a plan. The leash grew taut, the varren's strength surprising her. "Eezo! Sit!" she commanded again, her voice a mix of authority and pleading.

Finally, as they approached the park, Eezo's steps faltered for a moment. Jane took the opportunity to pivot, digging her heels into the ground. The sudden resistance brought the creature to a halt, and she managed to get in front of him, using her body to block his view of whatever had spurred this mad dash. She looked around, her breath coming in short, ragged gasps. The park was empty, thankfully, but she knew that wouldn't last. Her heart raced as she scanned the area for any sign of her towel or clothing.

Eezo whined, his tail wagging wildly as he stared up at her, his eyes gleaming with excitement. Jane crouched down, trying to keep her towel from slipping further, and whispered firmly, "Eezo, sit. Stay." The varren obeyed, his tongue lolling out of his mouth as he panted. She took a deep breath, trying to calm her racing heart and the trembling of her hands. She knew she had to act fast.

Whats she do next?
