Try to leave town.

Heading north, you make to leave Pallet Town and begin your journey. Just as you reach the tall grass on the outskirts of town, a man's voice calls out to stop you.

"Hey! Wait! Don't go out!" He shouts, bearing down on you. "It's unsafe! Wild Pokémon live in tall grass!"

It's Professor Oak, the Pokémon expert whose lab is nearby your house.

"You need your own Pokémon for protection." Oak continues. You like the sound of that. "Here, come with me."

Following the labcoated older man, you head back the way you'd came, going south a small distance, past your house, and into the Prof.'s lab.

Taking you in the back, Oak stops in a room containing a table, replete with 3 Pokéballs, and his grandson, your rival, Blue.

"Red, I believe you know Blue." Oak says, gesturing to his grandson.

"Gramps, I'm fed up with waiting!" Blue moans. Even as he makes a fuss about being kept waiting, you're sure you notice Blue checking out your legs.

"Here, Red, there are three Pokémon here." Oak says, gesturing to the three Pokéballs.

"In my youth, I was a serious Pokémon Trainer. But now, in my old age, I have only these three left. You can have one, go on, choose!"

You're taken aback by Oak's generosity. Pallet Town was positively tiny, but you still didn't know Oak all that well. Hopefully, Oak's gift didn't come with any strings attached. The Professor wasn't exactly your cup of tea.

Unsurprisingly, Blue kicks up a fuss.

"Hey, Gramps, no fair! What about me?" The spoilt young man asks.

"Be patient, Blue. You can have one too!" Oak tells his grandson. "And after all, ladies first, right?" He says, giving you a lecherous smile.

Heading over to the table, you take a few moments to inspect the three balls. As you bend down to get a closer look, grandfather and grandson alike seize the opportunity to ogle your ass.

On the left is Bulbasaur, a sort of grass dinosaur-type Pokémon.

To it's right is Squirtle, the water-type.

At the far end of the table is Charmander, a orange lizard with fire powers that eventually evolves into the fearsome draconic Charizard.

Looking from Pokémon to Pokémon, you take your time, mulling over your choice.
