Try to intercept Wonder Woman before she reaches the door

Cursing yourself for letting your guard down, you rush to catch the sprinting woman. Diana moves fast, but you’re closer and you get to her a couple feet shy of the door. She ducks to one side like she’s trying to dodge that direction, but you’re watching her hips and see that for the feint it is. You launch yourself towards her, arms outstretched.

But it turns out that wasn’t a feint after all – she was planting herself for a spin kick! You have just enough time to think “Oh crap…” as a perfectly muscled leg comes your way, then her heel connects with your left temple.

Did I mention she really knows how to kick? You see stars and stumble to one side; your foot slips and you crash to the floor. Because your foot slipped, that’s totally why you fell; not because a girl kicked your ass with her arms literally tied behind her back. That’s your story and you’re sticking to it.

As you go down your legs hit hers and she stumbles a step, but quickly recovers her balance. As you hit the floor, Wonder Woman dives out the open cell door.

You push yourself to your feet, panic settling in the pit of your stomach. The Amazon Princess is standing in the hallway just outside the cell. She shrugs her shoulders and arms, and the ropes binding her just sorta disintegrate. She turns to face you, her face grim, and puts her fist through the control panel outside the door. There’s a shower of sparks and an arc of electrical current that doesn’t seem to bother her, and then the overhead power dampeners shut down with a sad dying noise.

Not great, but you never have known when to quit, for better or worse. The only weapon in sight is her golden lasso lying where you dropped it, so you snatch it up. As Wonder Woman enters the cell you rush her, thinking maybe if you can catch her with the lasso you can still turn this around. But it turns out the woman whose reflexes are fast enough to block fucking bullets isn’t so easy to snare. Her hands are a blur as she grabs your outstretched arm and uses your own momentum to slam you into the door jam.

OK, ouch. Seriously.

When your vision clears, she already has both your arms pinned behind your back and is wrapping the lasso around your wrists. In desperation you try to push off the door jam, but she’s back to full superhero strength and you don’t even budge her vise like grip. She picks you up by your upper arms and effortlessly carries you back into the cell. You kick back as hard as you can and get her in thighs a couple times, but you might as well be kicking the wall. She sets you down underneath the hanging chains you had been about to suspend her from, and spins you around to face her.

Her beautiful face is set in a smirk, but there’s no laughter in her eyes as she says, “Let’s see how you like being on the receiving end.”
