Try To Get Some Sleep

Despite what feels like a ton of nervous energy running through you, it seems it might be best to at least try and see if you can fall asleep. For all that you feel awake now, you do not want to push your luck and crash at an odd hour, resulting in you yawning all through your practice and maybe even the duel itself.

You sense coming at Harmony with anything less than your best will not end well for you.

Liam has apparently decided to study in Keira's room for tonight, as the one the two of you share is still empty as you return to it. Changing into your sleeping clothes, you slide into bed, turn off the bedside light, and then stare at the ceiling for a few minutes.

You start to wonder if perhaps if you had made a mistake trying to rest when you blink and suddenly find yourself... elsewhere.

You find yourself standing on a road made of brown cobblestones that floats in a sea of stars, trailing off further than you can see in both directions. You are pretty sure you are dreaming as you are still in your pajama bottoms and t-shirt that you got into bed with and, if the cobblestones were real, they would be cutting into your currently bare feet. In your right hand, you find yourself holding several long strings. Each of them are long enough to trail out of your fist and down to the ground, the lengths spreading out to each travel to the only other solid objects currently around you.

Doors, each of them closed, each with a different design, each with one of the strings leading to them.

The red string in your grip leads to the door nearest to you. It is a simple, brown, wooden affair with no real adornment and open halfway. From what you can see inside is a simple dull red carpet littered with women's clothing, sports magazines... and what seem to be books about different kinds of sex acts from what titles you can make out from where you are standing.

The black string in your hand trails over to the door immediately to the right of the first one, almost as if they were connected apartments. Said second door is black (though you think you may see the occasional spot of red here and there, as if it were painted over) with pieces of paper covered in different magic circle designs stuck to the wood with tape and thumbtacks. At first you think it looks closed but upon closer inspection you see that it is open just a crack, though not enough you can see anything inside.

The next string is yellow colored and leads to another nearby door that is half orange and half green but otherwise unremarkable.

The next string is a rather gaudy looking one, as if it had been covered with golden spray paint. It trails down the road a bit further than the first three before leading to an equally gaudy looking gold door with a doorknob that looks to be carved from a diamond (or more likely a cubic zirconium). The door is tightly shut but it looks so flimsy you could easily **** it open if you wanted to.

The fifth string is a pink colored one that leads to an equally pink colored door. It seems even more unremarkable in all respects then the orange and green door, which somehow makes it enticing in its own way.

The sixth string is actually two strings wrapped around each other, one white and the other orange, leading off towards a legitimately fancy looking door, made out of ivory with the design of an old medieval style castle carved in the center.

The final string is three strings bound together like the white and orange one. The triple colors of white, dark green and navy blue travel the farthest down the road, terminating in front of a steel door that looks like it belongs as the entrance to a bank vault, complete with one of those wheels you need to spin to open it instead of a door knob.
