Chapter 29

What obstacles stand in their way?
Troubles, troubles, and more troubles.
Tir was on watch with Joseph and Jean as the Peregrine came into one of the two ports of Telnon. This particular one was in the outskirts of the city, in the poor district and not within the walls where the Holy Men kept their clean, yet dirty, lives hidden away. Joseph whispered that he noticed more Templar gaurds patroling the harbor than he had ever seen. Tir could see the knights checking cargo and searching a nearby ship. He knew they weren't carrying any illegal contraband at the moment so they shouldn't have any problems... Right?
Carlin had come out on deck and stood nearby. As their ship came to a bumpy halt at one of the docks, a fat pompus looking official carrying a log book came waddling up to where their gang plank would be put out and stood waiting. Carlin gave orders for the ship to be secured and the gang plank put out so that the heavy set man could board the ship. Nearby a group of Templar stood watching the ship suspiciously and Tir felt his worries growing.
As the man approached Carlin, several other crewmembers had come on deck and were silently watching the exchange. Tir noted that both Carmine and Kara were among the watchers, but he too was focused on the captain.
"Sir I need your name, the name of the vessel, and infomation on your cargo. I'll also need to know your reason for visiting Telnon"
Tir heard Jean mutter that Telnon's security was tighter than a virgin's ass, but stiffled a chuckle as he watched the captain.
Carlin tried to give the man a disarming smile.
"This is a simple cargo vessel and we have not picked up anything of value at the moment. We were hoping to pick up some cargo here."
The fat man gazed at Carlin over the top of his log book for a few seconds before speaking.
"That doesn't tell me your name, the ship's name, or what cargo you do have. I have to write something down sir."
Tir could see taht Carlin was grasping for an answer, not wanting to give their real identity. He was rescued by Carmine as she walked up, making sure that ample chest was stuck out as she strutted over to them.
"Perhaps I could convince you to write something in your book for us so we don't have to answer?"
The man's eyes bugged out as he took in the sight of her big tits that were barely contained in the top she had taken to wearing to show off more cleavage to the pirates. His eyes roamed down to her short pants and her bare legs but quickly returned to her massive tits. He put his pen inside the book and closed it before waving to the waiting Templar. The knights nodded and stalked off to search another ship. The man spoke to Carlin again, but his eyes never left Carmine's assets.
"I will handle all the neccessary matters Captain Smith. I hope you are successful in your business here in Telnon."
The man turned and headed back down the gang plank leaving Carmine with a confused look on her face. Carlin smacked her ass and nodded after the man and it occured to her then that she was supposed to follow him. She gave Tir a look of horror and his heart felt like it was pulled from his chest, but he could only watch as she followed the man into the night and disappeared into a nearby dock office.
Carlin shook his head and walked over to where Tir stood with Joseph and Jean and spoke in a hushed whisper.
"We're in, but I don't know how much time we will have."
Joseph nodded slowly.
"Yes and security has gotten tighter. I have a bad feeling. We are almost a week late for our meeting with Adam and all these guards are here now. Something has happened. I need to get ashore and see what I can find out. I was supposed to meet Adam at a tavern near here."
Carlin looked around at each the the crew members in turn. They were all putting their lives on the line for what they felt was right, and now Carmine was buying them some measure of freedom. But he wasn't going to leave her there alone.
"Joseph, take Tir, Luca, and Vane with you. Jean, I would like a word with you in private after they leave."
Joseph nodded and gathered his team. Tir had his knives and daggers already hidden on his body so he had nothing to prepare. Luca too had already put on her dagger and whip. Her brother simply cracked his knuckles and nodded. Tir allowed Joseph to lead them off, but he glanced over to the office he had seen Carmine disappear into and felt a sharp pain in his chest. He wanted to rush to her rescue but knew that he couldn't without endangering the entire crew.
He hoped they could finish their mission quickly and that Carmine wouldn't be scarred by her sacrifice.
