Trouble at the station

When you finally awoke, you found that Angel's eyes had already been opened, staring at the wall and breathing slowly. Warm sunbeams caressed your skin as you sat up, not bothering to cover Angel's chest like you'd always see in the TV shows, content to let her upper body say free of any fabric for the moment. "About time," Angel said with a chuckle. "It was weird to be paralyzed and waiting for you to wake up."

"How long had you been--oh wait." You'd tried to talk to Angel Five, but you realized the earpiece had fallen out during the night. After a bit of feeling around, you put it back in her ear and tried to brush some of her hair from her face. "There we go. How long had you been awake?"

"Not too long, maybe twenty minutes? It just felt like a long time. If we do this more often, I'm going to want some voice-controlled speakers for some music or something."

You froze. "You're already thinking about doing this again?" Not that you were complaining, but you were surprised that your partner found the experience interesting enough to already be planning for more time!

"W-well, I mean," Angel Five said as she tried to control her blush, "I had a nice night, and I thought I would hate you having control of me, but it actually felt really good. I felt like you weren't going to do anything that I didn't enjoy, at least!"

"Right, well." You slipped further out of the bed, standing up in just Angel's panties, furthering her blush with how you so easily put her nearly nude body out in the open of the apartment, almost like she thought you weren't inside her and might catch a glimpse of her body by walking by the open bedroom door. With your hands on your hips, you practically jutted your Angel's chest out at that portal, as if you were enticing that very scenario to occur. "We still need to get ready for our shift, you know. Pop open the access hatch so I can get out, yeah?"

With a sigh as she realized everything was coming to an end, Angel Five complied, as you heard the hiss of the access doors open on her back. You climbed onto your knees on the bed, leaned forward, and...

"...I don't know how to get out. Usually I'm pulling an Endo out with its handle, how do I pull myself out?"

"What?" Angel Five asked. "I, uh, don't know. Can you just pull away from me? Like, pull your arms out, or your legs?"

You acted like you were tugging your hand away, but all it did was raise Angel's hand up. If you sat up like you were trying to exit her body, she merely sat up as well. And no matter how you stretched or curled up your legs, you couldn't seem to pull out of Angel's limbs!

"Well, this isn't great, maybe we should text Angel Three? See if she can tell us what she did? Maybe with some ropes and pulleys or something..." Angel said, as you stepped out of the bedroom to look for your phone to send a message. Before you could reach the phone, however, a call came in on it. Angel blinked as you held up the screen to see who was calling: Sargeant McPhearson. Angel frowned. "What in the world does he want? We've got over an hour before our shift!"

"I guess we'll find out soon," you said. Making sure your helmet's microphone was connected to the phone, you accepted the call. "Hello, Sargeant?"

"Rider Five, when can you get in here? We have a problem, and I need you and Angel ASAP! Make sure your Angel's Endo has a charged battery from home, don't plan on using one here, there's an issue with them."

You paused, as Angel frowned. You took a seat, trying to think how to navigate this conversation. Do you tell Sarge the truth about your predicament? Do you lie and hope you can quickly find a way to get out of Angel and get down to the station?

"We can't go to the office like this," Angel Five whispered so only you could hear.

Racking your brain, you didn't know what to say to the Sergeant yet, so you decided to stall while you tried to think of something. "Sir, what's wrong with the batteries at the station?"

"We're investigating, but it looks like a mechanical failure. I'll show you more when we get in, but once Angels One, Three, Four, Eight, and Nine installed them, their Endos shut down and powered off their internal framework. The Riders were affected too, even just touching the battery seemed to cause a problem that shut down their Meteor electronics. They're fine, but more or less paralyzed right now while a Yabusa tech works on them. On top of that, Unit Seven never reported in last night, and now Rider Two is missing. That leaves your unit, and Units Six and Ten, as the only available ones for a search."

You sat straight up as you heard what sounded a lot like some sort of sabotage to you. "You think maybe the problem with the batteries was intentional?"

"I can't say," McPhearson said, sounding clearly disturbed by the events. "All I know is there could be more problems with the Angel module, it's hard to say that we've seen the end of things. We're going to have to think fast for ways to safeguard the remaining units from this issue, but at least the remaining Angels using their home-charged batteries seem fine so far. So when can you get down here?"

"Well, about that," you said, hesitantly. You just shrugged, trying to signal you needed some input from Angel.

Angel kept her voice at a quiet whisper. "If we don't want to risk taking too long getting you out, you might need to tell him the truth."

That option didn't thrill you, but you couldn't ask Angel Three for help if she was paralyzed by a bad battery. Maybe if you didn't mention that you were stuck inside your Angel, you'd have a stroke of genius in the next few minutes to pull yourself out, but if not, that would be an even worse situation to navigate...
