Chapter 19
by Rabidwolf
Lisa's first day on the job.
Trouble at the Painted Lady.
After leaving the stables Lisa returned to the hotel to change her clothes. As she past the front desk she heard Bob Thorn and Alma Morgan in a heated exchange. Lisa figured that Bob was keeping his word about dropping the $15 a day costs.
Lisa changed her pants and shirt and went back downstairs. She then left the hotel and began patroling the town. During the patrol Lisa paid a visit to each of the businesses and introduced herself to the owners, if she didn't already know them.
At Usher's Guns and Ammo, Lisa saw a sign indicatating that there is a practice range at the rear of the store. Lisa decided that she would probably need to use it prior to the Black Lynchers arrival.
Lisa left the 2 saloons to last. First she went to the Laughing Man. Despite its exterior which matched the rest of Deadneck, the interior was a total contrast. All the furniture was new and in good repair. Along a balcony over the main floor were stationed 3 men all armed with winchesters to ensure that no-one caused any trouble.
The Painted Lady however was totally different. Its interior was as run down as the rest of town. There were no guards to maintain order. Where as the Laughing Man had plenty of staff to oversee things, there were only 3 staff to deal with any outcome at the Painted Lady.
Despite all this the Painted Lady was far busier than the Laughing Man. In the Painted Lady, Lisa encountered a situation. A big city dude, who Lisa recognized as the only other guest of the Deadneck hotel, was being manhandled by half a dozen other patrons. Lisa looked around and noted that only 1 employee was present and he was behind the bar showing no interest in stopping what was going on.
Lisa had to do something to stop what was happening. But what?
What does Lisa do?
