Trouble at sea

The sea was calm and the sky was clear. It looked like nothing could happen and the rest of the trip would be just as boring as it had been this far. And for most it would be. But Jasmine was not so fortunate.

One second the ship was moving. Then it shook violently and stopped. As the passengers watched – some in amazement, some in terror, and some in both – waves rose from the sea and a wall of water encircled the unfortunate vessel. The obviously magical wall rose higher and higher, until in the end it created a dome made of water over the “Queen”, trapping the ship.

Everyone on board was visibly worried, including Jasmine. No one seemed to know for sure what was going on. Several different mages tried to break the wall but their spells had no visible effect. Jasmine was thinking of using Heavensong’s magic when something attracted her attention. A face emerged from the water surrounding the ship followed by a woman’s body. A man gasped and started pointing, causing everyone else to look at the strange woman. Soon everyone on board was staring at her in amazement, and she was staring at them in turn.

With blinding speed a large number of tentacles made of water shot out of the wall near the elemental and before anyone could react both Jasmine and the girl were suspended in mid-air, right in front of the woman. Reaching in her own body she pulled out two necklaces, each with a glowing blue stone, and put them around the necks of her two chosen victims. Then, to everyone’s surprise, the elemental disappeared, taking the two women along, and the ship was allowed to continue…
