Trouble at home

“Hey Zo, What’s up?” As you open the door and step out your sister already starts talking to her friend. You look up and see that Zoe’s usually perfect makeup is far from that today. Her lipstick seems off, her mascara doesn’t seem to quite match her beautiful hazel eyes and her brunette hair that usually frames her face like a painting by Da Vinci seems like it has yetto see a comb today. “Are you...” you begin to ask but get cut off when she brushes past you, sists in the seat you were just sitting in and starts crying on your sisters’ shoulder. While Jenny is consolingher she looks at you and mouths “What?!?” You shrug your shoulders since you don’t know either and just get in the back of the car. Once you sit down you can hear sniffling coming from the front. But now it has some sort of cadence as if Zoe was talking while crying. Jenny is patting Zoe’s back and shushing her as if she were a baby. In terms of current vulnerability, you would say that the two were about equal. “Zoe, honey what happened?” Your sister asks so silently that you can barely hear it. At that Zoe just wails and buries herself deeper into your sister’s shoulder. “I wish she would feel better” you think to yourself. Zoe starts to untangle from Jenny and sists up straight in her seat. Sniffling and wiping her face with her hands she says “Thanks for picking me up. It’s been a rough morning.” She scoffs and throws herself into the seat.
