Chapter 3 by InaroInra InaroInra

Who finds this on their phone?

Trivia Edition: Local Librarian Vs. Curious College grad

Note: Taking a slight change in how the app works along with how it appears: It's a multiplayer trivia game with a maximum party of up to five. After a category is chosen, each question wrong determines the severity of the punishment choices. Each contestant gets one, however not participating gets three. I’m going to be combining a lot of concepts with other routes.

As her second year working as a librarian passed by, Cecily's spirit drained considerably faster as the hours marched by. All the righteous motivation in pursuit of a dream job clashed against the cold heart reality: No matter how strong her passion for reading, her wallet would very much rather the second job she worked became the only job. It was almost as if she never graduated from the college life. With a mountain of difficult classes and standards she had to surmount, keeping track of which comic book failed to return for little monetary gain, Cecily slumped onto the front desk, wondering what rose-tinted glasses that were the blame of her endeavors. This negative feeling traveled from her job choices to other outlooks: 'If you weren't the spitting image of a prude-filled librarian, perhaps your embarrassing dating records would look a whole lot more steady'.

Looking at a nearby reflection—sure; her uptight raven bun, sharp glasses, and resting bitch face caused glancing brats to develop(irrational) tears—but beneath her conservative suit was at-least B-cup breasts and a slender(waif) figure...-... 'I need to rethink life.' Yawning, Cecily chose to distract herself, counting all of the guests inside. One elderly man combing through the comic section, right next to an unsuspecting mother “supervising” her smartphone as her child "researched" the manga section right next to it. Some professor-looking character was looking in the economics section, and a college-student type walking up towards her.

Sweatpants paired with a college hoodie certainly didn't help the mousy blonde catch any eyes. Though with her wrinkle free—sag free—freckled face, the ancient feeling librarian scorned herself from getting envious. Noticing that the student had arrived in front of her, Cecily snapped back into her stern posture.

“Do you need assistance with anything?”

“Nah, not really.” The blonde replied scratching her forehead. After a couple of seconds she seemed to have figured out what she wanted to say: “Well I was looking around—found this back with a QR code. Pretty sure it shouldn’t have one, y’know.”

Bringing up the book, Cecily slightly winced with how familiar she was with the book. Labelled "Career and You: Changing Both Body and Mind", it was slightly embarrassing to be presented with a book she often followed as gospel after she graduated. However the back white covered in a black square barcode was truly different about it. “Looks stamped on. So how did you stumble onto this?”

Averting her eyes, the college student found that whatever was to the left of her was ten times more interesting than anything currently occurring. “Uhh, it was just laying around,-I happened to notice it, so I brought it up here.”

“Uh huh.” Cecily had better values than pressure a college student for graffiti. “In any case, I will take this book into the back and figure a solution.”

“Um, aren’t you curious though?” To Cecily, that type of reply kinda spelt her guilt. Although she didn’t look the type to pull a prank, judging by appearances was pretty outdated. Eying down the student, she also gave it a second thought. “What could happen?” Worst case scenario will just link to some porn site or a phishing scam. Perhaps some small excitement could be gained out of this dry grind.

Agreeing with the girl, they both decided that they had nothing better to do but pull out their phones and scan it. Both were presented with an abnormally quick apk download that bypassed any need for confirmation. Before either made a comment, the app seemed to auto-connect to a trivia game in progress:

What model kit by B-Club featured a “mobile tank” that participated in the One Year War?: YMT-05 Hildolfr, RX-75-4 Guntank, XM2001 Crusader

Frustrated, Cecily tried to exit out of the app to no success. Just deciding to deal with it later, she turned off her phone—setting it to the side—and took the book from the college student's idle grasp. She’d have to reset to the last phone backup and go through re-organizing it again. Had the generation gap become so big that blonde brat could infect her phone that simply? As she shook her head thinking of how many other books the QR code could've been neatly stamped onto, she glanced back at the youth. It was weird how she was engaging with the game, but she couldn't care less at that point. Walking into the back room, she decided to figure out how to rectify her stamped book.

Not a short while after the library assistant stormed to the back-office, Rebecca felt slightly dejected after getting a couple questions wrong. Although model kits were pretty foreign of a subject, she expected to know most of the answers due to having an older brother obsessed with tanks—who knew there was a simply named "guntank". Some part of her was relieved that it was just a trivia game app that some dude wanted to share.

Presented with an oddly accurate cutesy avatar of herself, below listed three 'punishments' she could choose from. Beneath that, two smaller sub sections showed three punishments each, with a name next to them. Sure the new aspect is kinda weird, but it was probably meant as an incentive to continue playing. That you could temporarily get weird effects/clothes for your avatar. Rationalizing the accuracy of the avatar, the college grad wondered if it had access to her camera or photo library. Either way, it seemed impressive that it was able to get a decent chunk of her appearance right.

With a warning that she'd get all three, Rebecca decided to pick one; going with the flow.

Choices:

Rebecca Broodben: Breasturant Babe, Handsy Handfuls, Giggle fits

Cecilia Vern: Slutty Professional, Forever Young, Freud’s 1st stage of development

Stella O'Rals: Goldilocks, Bend at the waist, Phallic Vision.

End Note: Updated with dialogue and some different changes. Please tell me what you think.

What choice did Rebecca choose?/How are the other contestants reacting?
