Travel via the Kingsroad

You look out the windows at the quickly passing city, and once you've left King's Landing via the King's Gate, the tall walls quickly fading to the distance, before you become surrounded by dense forests.

You quickly grow bored with the repetitive scenery, so you turn away from the window and look at the inside of your carriage. The wood paneling is mostly plain, except for that at the front of the carriage, with a rampant stag engraved into the dark oak wood. You were riding alone, as the lords did not wish for you to be with them - as far as you could tell, the convoy had only been so large to project the power of House Baratheon for all to see. Your carriage was virtually empty, the only thing in it aside from you being some old swords and an axe in a weapons case. You had opened it at the beginning of your journey, before immediately closing it again. You had heard enough old wives' tales of weapons flying around carriages in accidents to be weary of them.

As you lean back and relax, your carriage suddenly shudders to a halt. You look outside at an endless forest, the hairs on the back of your neck shooting up. You stick your head out the window, trying to see what's happening. A knight on horseback rides up to your carriage, his sword still sheathed.

"No need to be alarmed," he starts, with a calm demeanor, "it seems t-." An arrow embeds itself into his head, and he tumbles off his horse, dead, before he can finish his sentence. You swiftly pull your head back into the carriage as another arrow whistles past, where you were just seconds ago.

_Highwaymen! _you think to yourself, realizing that the convoy is to be looted now. You see knights and thieves riding past, steel clashing against steel in the distance. A fleeting prayer passes through your mind, before you remember the weapons chest. Scrambling over, you open it up, pulling out the axe and clutching the handle tight to your chest. As the sounds of the fight draw closer to your carriage, you weigh your options - allow the guards to fight it out with the highwaymen, or join the fight yourself.
