Chapter 2 by yesmanguy yesmanguy

Who is afflicted?

Tori, a 20 year old college student

(Author’s note: apologies for people that have been reading my branch in “Body and Mind(s),” I’ve been trying to consistently update it but I tend to get writer’s block with how to tie in the story to certain points in the plot that I have in mind. At the same time I get ideas for other stories that I don’t want to lose so in a sense I don’t lose steam if that makes sense.)

Tori was your stereotypical “alt girl” at her local college in the town of Maddington. At the age of 20, not much had changed about her since high school: she still worked fast food, still wore the same thick framed glasses, torn up jeans, hoodies, high top sneakers, and was still introverted to the point of having a few friends.

It wasn’t so much that nobody wanted to talk to her, it was more or less that she never made the effort to socialize as she damn near hated everyone in her classes. She especially hated anyone that was bubbly and preppy in nature; they annoyed her to no end. Especially since it was near summer and every girl in class was showing off their pedicures, sandals, and just about everything to put their feet on display now that the season’s enabled them to do so.

See, Tori was different; even though she had a foot fetish specifically for women’s feet, she despised most of the people the feet were attached to. She longed for a way to be able to enjoy the pampered feet around her without the girls themselves. Today, she found out just how to do that…

Apart from her fascination with the female foot, Tori also had an attraction to everything supernatural. When she wasn’t doing homework, she was studying legends, myths, and ancient texts that described unearthly occurrences. She was further indulged with her creature habits as her hometown of Maddington itself was said to have been cursed by some unnatural ****, driving her to make connections with her research to the urban legends of the town.

She seemed to have struck gold when she discovered a supposed spellbook she found on ebay about a week ago. To her, the price didn’t matter compared to the value of the knowledge the book contained. It was visibly aged; the dusty, leather cover was imprinted with a mix of runes of some that she recognized and others that were alien to the mousy girl. As soon as she opened the package her room immediately filled with a scent reminiscent of that of an antique store.

A lot of the pages were scribbled on with cliff note translations, explanations, pronunciations, and notes in English alongside each spell written in a bygone language. A lot of the spells and rituals were related to altering the human body; ranging from causing general mischief to borderline sex enhancements. Tori realized that her woes were finally answered when she came across a page showing a picture of a female figure, with a line dashing through its feet just above the ankles.

“Wairth Fotus Laus Kwiunan: a sister spell to ‘Wairth Fotus Laus’ that somehow detaches the target’s feet from their body, thus the victim loses all sensation from the lost appendages as a patch of skin somehow forms over the severed connection. However, this spell enables the feet of the victim to still be capable of movement despite no longer being attached to their body as they act on their own will. Whether or not the feet become sentient is to be further studied as once given freedom from their owner’s body, the feet seem to act on instincts similar to a wild animal and aimlessly wander separate from one another and occasionally exhibit their own unnatural abilities.

Note: As with all spells in this book, practice at your own peril; the spell can only be reversed if the enchanted feet yield to the spell and will automatically wander back to their owner to reattach.

To use: focus on each word and its meaning while simultaneously picturing the actions occurring to the intended target. ‘Wairth’ means ‘to become,’ ‘Fotus’ means ‘foot,’ ‘Laus’ means ‘without,’ and ‘Kwiaunan’ means ‘to come to life.’ The time to take effect varies on how many targets are intended to be affected, ranging from several seconds to roughly 5 minutes.”

Tori’s face lit up upon reading the scribbles of the previous owner of the book. Finally, she can live out her fantasy of being surrounded with the feet of her classmates. The best part? Their feet would be free of their owners for her to take and do whatever she pleased with, so long as she was careful with how she used the spell.

She looked down at her own feet still clad in her high tops and frowned. Despite the attention she paid to the feet of other girls, she never really pampered her own apart from cleaning them in the shower and keeping them soft with moisturizer. She always stuffed them, with or without socks, into her old sneakers without ever putting them on display or getting a pedicure. She didn’t really find them ugly, it was more so that she thought they were extremely average and didn’t want any sort of attention anyway.

Closing the book, she stuck it into her backpack just in case she decides it’s now or never. And that day was today…
