Together in the dark

"Oh my god! Oh my god!" Maria shouted.

"We gotta get out of here," Eric muttered.

Carrie was silent, but after a moment came a click, and there was light where the room had otherwise been pitch black. Carrie stood there, holding a flashlight in one hand, and using the other to gently tug the hem of her shirt down in front of her underwear. "The two of you should have lights on your cameras, correct?" Eric and Maria just stared at her in the artificial light for a moment, before they started fumbling with the camcorders they had been given. Sure enough, they now had three beams of light brightening up the room instead of one, though it still felt as haunting as it had a moment ago.

"...So," Eric started before trailing off, trying to break the awkward pause. The three of them were just standing there shivering in silence, in various degrees of undress. Carrie had goosebumps running up her bare legs, and Maria had her camcorder held close to her chest. (If any of them had been a little less frightened, they might have noticed the small red light indicating that Maria's camcorder was still running.) Eric meanwhile was keeping his camera in front on his crotch, feeling the draft in nothing but his underwear. Eric decided to give talking a second try, with a cough to clear his throat.

"We should probably get out of here," he said, and Maria nodded in agreement, immediately running over to open the doors.... with no luck.

"What the-- they're locked!"

"Something supernatural is obviously happening here," Carrie said as calmly as she could, "I would like to get my equipment back, and maybe it can help us avoid whatever is doing this."

"I don't know," Maria said, "we're not getting back up there without a whole lot of effort, and considering what happened the first time, I don't want to touch that staircase again." Looking around, Maria saw a door to the right was ajar. "Let's just... let's just try and find another way out." The girls shared a glance before turning to Eric to cast his vote.
