Try for the second floor.

"I want to get out of here as much as anybody," Eric said with a shiver, "but if this ghost stuff is somehow, actually happening, for real, then maybe Carrie actually knows what she's talking about." The blond forgot her distress for a moment to smile with a quiet pride, before Maria interrupted with a long sigh.

"Fine," she said, "but how exactly are we getting up there? Like I said, I'm not touching that ramp again."

"Eric," Carrie started, "stand there, would you?" Carrie moved her beam over to a wall right next to the staircase, largely unadorned but leading up to a railing from which anyone on the second floor of this main room could look out on the room below.

"Sure...?" Eric walked over to the indicated spot, feeling a little sheepish under the direct beam of the flashlight. He couldn't quite reach the next floor, but it wasn't too far off.

"Now, put your hands together in front of you, and get ready to help me up." Eric did as he was told, and Carrie placed one foot into his hands. "My turn!" Maria said, walking over to him and even snickering a little despite the situation, having caught Eric looking at their mutual friend's butt.
