To the point

Silence lingers in the air a moment before Diane cuts to the point.

"So, did you want to tell me what you've brought me in for today? I hope I'm not being fired!" She asks.

"No no nothing like that. It's just... HR has asked me to have a chat with you because they've heard a silly little rumour about you... sleeping with... male clients... in order to make sales."

"Hahahahaha. Sleeping with male clients. Who comes up with these silly stories. Why don't I go talk to Sofia in HR and clear this up." Diane replies with a cheerful smile.

"Oh no that won't be necessary. Don't worry about it."

"Oh good, because to be honest Sofia kind of frightens me."

"Hahahaha me too sometimes. Instead of having to speak to her, you can just sign this form here attesting that you've never slept with a past or present client during the negotiation stage of selling our software. It's just some legal mumbo jumbo stating that if this rumour turned out to be true, you would be held liable and our company could press charges, which shouldn't be an issue since these are all baseless rumours anyway."

Diane looks ever so slightly uneasy about this for a moment, but soon returns to her normal smiling self.

"Of course. I'd be happy to sign it." She says, grabbing a pen and starting to read over the document, signing in the required places.

"Oh and we'll be getting all your past clients to sign a similar document, but don't worry, they'll also be signing a non-disclosure agreement stating the contract cannot be mentioned once signed, just so the rumours don't spread any further."

Diane freezes mid signature and that uneasy look returns to her face. Her eyes raise and meet yours. Where you once saw a bubbly, smiling face you now see a hint of fear and contempt.
