To the Road!

Not wanting to get caught in the midst of the Infected as you all bottleneck near the door, you turn and sprint back the way you came.

By the time you reach the road again, you're breathing so heavily that you can barely hear anything over the sound of your own gasping breaths. For a moment, you think you've managed to outrun them, but a glance over your shoulder shows you just how wrong you are about that.

At least half a dozen Infected are in persuit of you, the closest barely a dozen strides behind you.

Adrenaline pushes you to even greater speed.

Seeing an open car door ahead, you aim yourself for that, hoping for some degree of safely. Diving through the open door, you quickly reach back, pulling the door closed behind yourself and locking the door before the Infected can reach for the handle.

Within seconds, at least half a dozen Infected are gathered around the little compact car, some scratching and pawing at windows, while others pull at the doors or even the door handles.

Your pulse roars in your ears, punctuated by the frusterated howls of the Infected.

Outside the car, the half dozen who had originally been chasing you have now become at least a dozen around the car. As you watch, another dives onto the hood of the car, pulling at its edge as if that will somehow gain it enterence to the cab of the car.

You wrack your brain trying to come up with a plan of escape, but even as you do so, more and more Infected join the fray, until you can no longer see anything through the mass of bodies gathered around the little vehicle.

Behind you, you hear the back window crack, the sound making your blood run cold. Even the Infected seem to take pause at the sound, a second later fists begin to rain down on the windows of the car.

When the windshield cracks in a large spiderweb pattern, you know that it's only a matter of time before they get in.
