To the Mall

Gabi whistled as soon as she saw us. “Damn, looking good boys!” “You look nice yourself.” I responded, and she did. She changed into slim ripped jeans with a v neck white shirt and a striped open hoodie over it. She had one a few bracelets on her left wrist along with a necklace to accessorize. Her raven hair was parted in the middle and she had on lipstick as well as some makeup. She smelled nice too, like cherry almost.

“Well come on, let’s go!” Ivan grabbed us by the arms and led us to the school parking lot. We approached a white Chrysler with a black top. “This one is yours?” I ask. He smiled and unlocked the doors. “It’s borrowed, it belongs to my older sister.” “Oh?” We got into the car with Gabi calling shotgun. “Yea, she carpools though so she lets me borrow it from time to time.” “Sweet.” “It is!” Gabi added cheerfully, “I’ve told Ivan he should appreciate her more.” “What you told me was to kiss her ass more often and I ain’t about to lose my dignity like that.” Ivan replied. Gabi laughed while I chuckled softly. “Butt kisser.” I muttered, causing all of us to laugh as Ivan started the car and put it in reverse.

“Here I ammmmmmm!”

“On the road again!”

“There I ammmmm, up onnnn the stage.”

A few minutes down the road Ivan decided to share his taste in music with me, turns out he’s a fan of rap and rock music. The three of us were singing one of my favorites, Turn the Page. Ivan’s got a good taste in music and Gabi seems to know the lyrics too, makes me wonder what memories they’ve made together. They seem like a close pair, and I was glad to be among them, even if I end up a third wheel.

“Playin’ Star againnnn.”

“There I gooooo.”

“Turn the page...”

“That song always gets to me.” I say as Ivan chuckled. “It is a good one.” “The best.” I added. “What other songs you got?” Ivan smiled and sucked in his breath. “Ninety-nine bottles of beer on the wall! Ninety-nine bottles of beer!” “Okay-Okay, not that song!” I waved my hands around as Gabi and Ivan laughed. “We can do It’s a Small World After All?” Gabi asked, I shook my head. “Please don’t.” Gabi and Ivan looked at each other.

“Iiiit’s a small world aaaafter alll!”

“Noooooo stop it! Not funny please!”

We all laughed as Ivan slowed down to stop at a stoplight. “We’re just about here Alex.” “Really?” I look out the window and see a wide large building as we passed a sign saying Welcome to the Town Center. “Huh. That was fast.” “Yup! Just need to find parking now.” Ivan frowned as he turned the car and started scouting for any empty lots. “There that one!” Gabi pointed, Ivan following with a quick turn. “Got it! Alright guys, we’re here.”
