To the East!

You stop by the shop to pick up some pokeballs; you buy ten and stick Golem in the premier ball.

There's nothing else around here, so you move on. The journey is without peril, and you spend your time thinking of Misty. If Brock's any indication, she's not going to fuck around until after the match. You fear what might happen should you lose again.

As you pass through Mt. Moon, blasting everything in sight with bubbles, ice and earthquakes, you consider the pokemon available to you. There are paras around here, and bellsprout north of Cerulean. You could backtrack and see if any Pikachu are left in Veridian, but even then, this doesn't look good.

You decide it's time for more cheating, and walk to the shop for more balls; you'll need as many as possible. You leave and go straight through Cerulean and continue east. You see no reason why you should only remove the barrier tree with cut, so you burn it down, making sure to hose down the area afterwards to avoid a repeat of Veridian Forest. The jump in levels gives a manageable challenge, and soon you're on the far side of the route.

After a quick heal, you hop a fence and have Smoochum freeze the river. You walk along the extended shoreline to the power plant.

The levels jump again, but with Golem's invulnerability, you have no trouble reaching your quarry: Zapdos.

Its body is blinding in the dark facility. You can't tell if its body has anything solid or if the beak and feet are just some metal caught in the magnetic field. It sees you and cries out as electricity arcs around the room from its wings.

You have Golem throw rocks at the bird till it's in the red and cover your mouth. You bring out a paras you caught on the way, and, staying hidden behind your living rock, release a sleep spore.

The legendary pokemon falls to the ground in slumber; its body dims. Now grounded, the creature appears a dark blue like the night sky. The wings are more like rods. You can see energy crackle under its translucent skin.

You quietly approach, and dump a crate full of pokeballs on the beast's head. Several break, but Zapdos is caught.

Gym time?
