To give a reward

When Janno got to the mayor's office, he was immediately ushered in to the see the mayor, an aged, wizened man who could have been old enough to be Janno's grandfather. The mayor greeted Janno enthusiastically and offered him a chair.

Once Janno sat down, the mayor immediately launched into the reason our Janno's summons. He had heard about the fighter and his previous party's exploits in ridding the town of the ogre menace. He and his council chose to grant a reward money to the party, but no one knew where the party was. Others said the party was finished along with the ogres. It was only this morning that Mayor Malkar heard about the sole survivor member of the party.

With that, he pulled out a chest and offered it to Janno. The fighter took it and opened and it up and found 100 gold coins and some small gems. Janno had to immediately thank the mayor for the reward money.

The mayor said he wished Janno could stay and help out with the town, but would understand if the fighter wanted to move to a bigger (and better) place. He also told Janno of an old Woodhaven tale about a hidden cave sunk beneath the Earth. Once there had been a keep not far from town, but an earthquake caused it to fall into a hole and be buried underneath. There have been rumors that the keep held riches, but no one has ever gone underground to find out.

Janno thanked the mayor for mentioning the keep, though the fighter privately wondered if it was only a story to keep him and his new group in Woodhaven.

The fighter said he would consider his options, then shook hands with Malkar before taking his leave. As Janno headed back to the Wild Gryffin Inn, his thoughts were filled with what possibilities he and his new group could do.

Along the way, he happened by the town center, which had a board he originally used to search for adventurers. There were two new notices.

One was from a local merchant who wished to hire some adventurers to carry a certain piece of item, a family heirloom, to the nearby town of Green Meadows, a farming district along the plains.

The other was a posting looking for a group of heroes on on the outskirts of Woodhaven to look for missing people **** from farm steads.

Janno gazed at the two postings, mulling over possibilities in his head. What course should he and his new mates take?
