To cheer her up

Mike got home to find Helen in a bad mood. He was about to ask what was wrong when told him as soon as she saw him. “Joey called me a bit ago. Apparently, we can’t see each other for a while.”

“I know,” said Mike. “Sue told me.”

“What? Really? Why would Sue call you?”

“I’ll tell you in a moment. Why are you so annoyed?”

Helen sat petulantly on the sofa and crossed her arms. “Things were just getting started. I was enjoying myself.”

It was a rare sight to see Helen like this. He couldn’t help but think she looked cute when she pouted. “I mean, you had been doing other stuff before him.”

“I know,” she sighed. “This was different though. We planned this together. It was our thing. We confessed to each other and then we did the Joey thing. Now it feels like we are back to square one.”

Mike sat next to her and put his arm over her shoulder. She leaned against him and rested her head on him. “I don’t think we are back to square one because you aren’t at square one anymore. Just because you lost your fuck buddy doesn't mean that there isn’t a world of men out there who would love nothing more than to get you into bed and you are now in a much better position to deal with that.”

“How do you mean?” she asked softly.

“Well, now you have seduced a guy into bed with you. I’m sure you would find it easy to do again if you wanted.”

“Yea, maybe it will. Would you want me to do that?”

“I want what you want. If you’d rather I don’t mind you making do with me.”

“I’m not making do,” she said, sitting up to face him.

“Would you like to have sex with someone else? Honestly?”

“It was fun doing that stuff with Joey. I think I’d like to do more. Sue has just put such a spanner in the works though. Anyway, what did she call you?”

“She wanted to masturbate at me while describing in detail what you and Joey did.”

“What?” said Helen indignantly. “How dare she?”

“Well, I think Joey made her do it to humiliate her. Apparently, that’s why he didn’t want you to say anything.”

“Oh,” said Helen with understanding. “Yes, I suppose that makes sense. Okay, I suppose it’s alright then.”

“You did have sex with Joey.”

“I know but this is different.”

She was clearly still in a bad mood. Joey was off-limits and Maisy wasn’t around. He decided that they needed something to change the pace. “How about we go on holiday?” he suggested.

Helen’s eyes brightened. “Really? When?”

“Soon. Maybe in the next couple of days. I could get a late flight booking.”

“Oh, that sounds like fun. Where are we going?”

“I’ll look into it. Probably somewhere equatorial as it’s getting colder. Somewhere hot. Swimming pools, beaches, spa treatments, maybe a bit of sightseeing.”

Helen hugged him. “That sounds amazing.”

Mike disappeared into his office and came out a little while later to find Helen bustling about and humming along to whatever she was listening to on her headphones. He took a moment to watch her sexy behind sway from side to side in the yoga pants she was wearing to do housework. She turned around and jumped when she spotted him. She pulled out her headphones and asked “Well, where are we going?”

Mike smiled and said, “The day after tomorrow we are going to the Canary Islands.”
