“Look at you.” Kylie said nearing me with Kara, taking a small break from the lessons while Kate continued.

“Playing cupid first with Didier and Lina. And now smiling at the squad, like it is your greatest accomplishment.” Kara said.

“No longer frowning at all.” Kylie continued.

“Well, they are getting good. Seem to have outgrown their sentiments of feeling abandoned. They smile a lot more. They feel more proud about themselves. And they can take care of themselves.” I replied.

“Yes, they can. They are a lot more confident. With their ambush and after realizing Didier made that practical joke against you, they no longer feel so intimidated by you.”

“No, they don’t. They feel like they could be friends with you, instead of being just under your wing.”

“Or being more friendly with you.”

“Or being more than friendly with you.”

“They are not arguing anymore?” It seemed me the better option to guide this conversation in another direction.

“Oh no... They realized there is no need for competition. Even worse for you, they must have decided that combining their forces against you is a much better option.”

“They indeed succeeded at that with their ambush...” I mumbled.

“They feel like if they defeated you once, they could have a crack at it again.” Kylie noted.

“After all, it was you that slipped up in giving away our location.” Kara grinned at me.

“How so?” I frowned.

“You sent them in three different directions for their night runs. You could have sent them in four directions. They deduced correctly the fourth direction and couldn’t be fooled by your detour. They learned making detours after their raid.” Kara replied smilingly.

“And having taught the lessons of making a cave, the same setup we have, they figured out, it had to be at a rise of the ground level too.”

“They are smart. Inquisitive. And we taught them well. Bound to happen. But I am relieved they didn’t find us by accident.”

“They are eager to learn, but curious too. And they can deduce very well once they set their minds on a common problem.”

“Curious?”

Oh no... Shouldn’t have asked that one... Fuck... Too late now.

“Clara and Sophia asked me very directly why and when I seduced you for the first time.” Kylie replied.

Here we go...

“So I told them how you had saved me from ****, left me in your debt, and feeling guilty about the sadness you were experiencing after it. They were astonished a bit, at first, but then mentioned you didn’t hesitate to go on that raid too, standing up for Clara.”

I groaned slightly. She wasn’t finished. Far from it.

“Then they asked me why I didn’t blink, on the contrary, when I didn’t mind Kara hugging you or just smiled at Kate dreamingly staring at you.”

“And you told them, what...?” I asked slightly resigned.

“You know I wouldn’t lie about that. I said I all loved them, and you all loved us.”

“How did they react?” I asked quietly.

“They weren’t surprised at all. More like pleased that their deductions were correct.” Kara replied.

“It looks like I will have to resign to the fact they know.” I sighed.

“Their questioning wasn’t finished with it. They asked Kate directly why and when she tried to seduce you. She predictably flushed at that, stammered a bit and then just said that you had saved her brother in the first battle, while risking your life. Poor Kate.” Kylie said almost mockingly.

“Then they asked me the same. I said I that I had a very bad boyfriend before the war, fled to the army but ended up in two bad sections. Full of men approaching me the wrong way. They understood what I was meaning. And then when you heard about my situation by Sara, you immediately decided to let me be extracted, adopted me into your section, gave me a new identity and had let me keep that identity after the second battle, so I could try to forget my previous life.”

“So you all gave them a summary of my biggest hits, while leaving out the bad stuff about me, my weaknesses and my anxieties.”

“It’s not their place to know that about you. Each on their own, they will see you differently. And find out stuff about you, good or bad. Loving someone is going for it, despite seeing the differences or the weak points in each other.” Kylie stated resolute.

“Thank you for that...” And I kissed Kylie for it.

“Yes, thank you for that.” And Kara stole a kiss from me. And not unnoticed by the squad, I saw Sophia elbowing Clara, smiling at us for our obvious display of affections.

“Cat’s out of the bag now and curiosity didn’t kill it at all.” I said wittingly.

“No, and those cats are ready to hunt and to play with their prey.” Kara said.

“And with all the praise you were giving them earlier, I doubt very much the hunt will last very long.” Kylie teasingly shoved me aside with her hips.

“Alright, alright, back to work, time to dig.”
