To Take It Slow

It was one of the better dates Emma had been on. Even being hungover, even still being daylight. The last thing Emma wanted to do was mess this up. Not to mention she was still trying to process her grief. If she did more with Tyrell, she wanted it to be for the right reasons and at the right time.

She slowed the kiss down and then pulled away. Ty looked at her, knowing that this wasn't the time or place either. Emma smiled at him for a few moments, just enjoying being next to him, then she said, "You're good."

Tyrell returned the smile, "I've been told that I'm not a bad kisser."

"Oh that too, but I mean the date. Taking me here was a good call. Nobody's ever taken me someplace like this before." Emma said.

Ty answered her with, "I was afraid it wasn't. It's not really a great place to hang out, and there's not much to do."

"But it's part of who you are. Or who you're going to be soon. It was a good choice. I liked it," Emma said, then continued, "But I'm not so sure about making out up here."

Ty agreed, "Me either. I wanted to show you the whole place, not just get you on one of the cots. But it's rude to not return a girl's kiss."

Emma blushed a bit, remembering that she had started things. "OK you've got me there. I've had a really great day with you, and I would like to do more, but not here and not now."

Tyrell said, "Oh we can't anyway. The guys don't let you sleep with women up here until you're actually part of the team."

It took Emma a second to realize that Ty was joking with her. The hand on Ty's leg pinched him then she stood up. Tyrell, laughing now, followed suit. He lead Emma downstairs, where they said goodbye to the guys, then Ty took Emma home.

In the driveway at the lake house they kissed for several minutes, not quite ready to leave each others company. Emma reluctantly stopped though. "This was a really great date Ty. You've done well."

Ty beamed with pride and smiled wide. "Then it's going to be hard to top with a second date."

Emma laughed, "That's pretty slick. But I'll give you your second date. Maybe we'll not be surrounded by firemen and we can pick up where that kiss left off."

"Hey, I was just trying to fulfill your fantasy. You're the one that likes firefighters." Ty laughed, teasing her.

Emma pinched his arm and said goodbye. She said she would call him later, and left the car.
