Chapter 5

Any funny business before Cosmic Coffee?
To Cosmic
Aisha exited the shower feeling incredibly relaxed. Her shower had over twenty shower nozzles placed strategically to hit every pore on her body. Humming a quiet song to herself, Aisha grabbed her razor and quickly shaved her arms, armpits, legs, and coochie. She worked quickly and efficiently; her Mom had raised her daughters to keep hairless below the neck at all times, so upkeep was a breeze. Aisha looked at her selection of perfumes, twenty-two in total, and debated what she wanted to wear… What would pair well with her outfit? After humming another verse, the busty brunette settled on a perfume that exuded cinnamon, jasmine, and saffron, and ambergris. While it wasn’t her usual go-to, today Aisha felt spicy.
With similar expedience, Aisha dressed in the black tank and moon skirt. She loved how her cleavage was framed; already big, their natural heft could be seen in every bouncy step. The skirt rode tantalizingly high on her thigh without risking indecency. Flipping her hair, Aisha felt great about her outfit. Her luscious calves were on full display, and her sandals exaggerated the femininity of her feet. Now that her hair had dried enough, she untangled it from her towel and worked on teasing it into her signature waves. Then, she added some light-red lipstick and a very light layer of blush and black eyelashes. Finally, Aisha put on her jewelry: the gold chain, a pair of gold hoop earrings, and an engraved gold ring placed upon her power finger. Aisha giggled at how hot she was. She absolutely loved fashion!
With a quick glance at her phone, Aisha checked the time: 10:45. Perfect. The brunette raised her phone and took a couple selfies, to commemorate the moment. She snapped three photos, but settled on two of them. The first focused on her smiling face; it hinted at her cleavage, and her hair slightly obscured the hoops. That photo, Aisha uploaded to the ‘gram with the caption, “It’s a lovely Texas day!” The second photo was a smidgen more risqué. She backed the phone up, and aimed it down slightly, highlighting her deep cleavage and lovely brown skin. Still smiling, a man might be forgiven for missing her hoops at all. Aisha sent that second photo to Jacob with the text, “How’d football practice go?”
With her morning preparation done, Aisha headed downstairs, where she could hear her Mother in the kitchen. Sure enough, as Aisha got closer, she could hear the tail end of the conversation her Mother had on the phone.
“OK Dear. When you get home, we’ll talk about it. For now… I’ll have Asim pick you up,” Aisha’s Mother sounded defeated, or at least disappointed. Aisha knew immediately it had something to do with her younger sister, Shalyla. Shalyla was the black sheep of the family. Ever since she graduated from high school, it seemed she had made it her life’s mission to disappoint their parents. First, it was moving out, second, it was dropping out of college to pursue “artistic ventures”, then she had met some bad person. Asim claimed Shalyla had fallen for a woman, but Aisha didn’t believe it and neither parent would confirm it. Aisha hadn’t seen her younger sister in two years.
“Good Morning Mom. Is everything all right? That call sounded rough,” Aisha asked, grabbing her Mother’s teacup and refilling it before bringing it over.
Mom received the cup gratefully and after taking a comforting sip revealed, “Shalyla called… Her ‘friend’ got mad at her and Shalyla needs a place to stay. But she sounded off. Like one of those hashish women.”
“Oh. Well, it’ll be nice to see her,” Aisha offered, trying to find the positive. Dad wasn’t going to be happy about any of this. Shalyla and Dad had been particularly close until Shalyla started rebelling in High School… Last time they were in the same room, the tension could be cut with a sharp knife.
Putting down her tea, Aisha’s mother embraced her, and quietly thanked Aisha, “Thank you for being such a Good Child. Don’t ever change.”
“What? And disappoint you and Daddy? Never!” Aisha assured, then broke the hug. “I’m off to the Cosmic for a coffee. Can I get you anything?”
“No dear. Have fun!”
Aisha parted and left. She grabbed the key fob to her silver Mercedes G Wagon and opened the garage. She loved her little truck; Daddy had given it to her for a graduation present, and Aisha loved driving it around the city and countryside. Further, Aisha loved watching the countryside meld into city-space as she closed in on the Cosmic Coffee and Café.
Parking her G Wagon, Aisha spent some time ‘fixing’ her appearance. While immaculate, her hair always got a bit mussed where it got trapped between her back and the leather seats. Checking the time on her phone, Aisha felt it was time to head in. So she grabbed her purse and stepped outside. Mercifully, the walk into the Cosmic was short. But even in that time, the sweltering hot Texas sun beat down and Aisha could feel the oppressive heat.
Sighing in relief, Aisha stepped into the air-conditioned building and smelled the rich coffee brew and felt at home. The dark, inquisitive environment matched her mood, and Aisha smiled. On the balcony, sitting in their spot, Jacob waved down at her. He had let his beard and hair grow out, the shaggy hair tied into a neat bun and his beard tapered down attractively to a point. He pointed to the seat across from him, where a cup was already placed. Aisha smiled and waved, feeling her heartbeat nearly imperceptibly pick up.
When Aisha reached the table, Jacob stood up and offered the other chair to her. She could see now that he was dressed in a nice solid button down and chino’s paired with brown leather pants and oxford’s. A wide receiver, he nearly bulged out of his clothes, and Aisha couldn’t stop herself from licking her teeth when she saw him.
“My, my! Aren’t you a gentleman, today!” Aisha commended him as she sat down.
“Aren’t I always?” Jacob smirked, sitting down.
“No…” Aisha rolled her eyes, pretending to think for a second. Then she followed up saying, “OK, Yes.”
“Hmm. I’ll take it. So, what’s new with you?” Jacob asked, leaning back and taking a sip from his coffee.
Just then, a customer from a nearby table stood up and a gust of wind gently tickled the Aisha’s right hoop. The whisper upon the wind said,
“You should tell him how you're feeling, about the marriage, about your father, about him, all of it. You need someone to confide in honestly, and it's no good to live in regret"

Aisha looked into Jacob’s vibrant green eyes, slightly widened by the caffeine high he was enjoying. She couldn’t help herself from admitting, “Honestly? Not good. I’m freaking out about the wedding, Dad wants to control my life, Shalyla’s causing drama, and Asim thinks he knows what’s best for me. And that’s not the worst of it. I just-” Aisha bit her lip and broke eye contact with Jacob, turning her head to look at the front door.
For his part, Jacob reached over and placed his strong hands over Aisha’s delicate ones. He didn’t say anything, let her breath while she pondered. Jacob spent the moment memorizing the color contrast of her gold chain and dusky skin. Committing it to memory, he did the same with her pretty face; his face turned slightly serious as he silently promised himself to turn her frown upside down before the end of their meeting.
“Jacob… There’s something else you should know,” Aisha said quietly, turning her head to face him. “When I think of the Prince, he’s not Saudi royalty… He looks a lot like you.”
“Oh,” Jacob stroked his beard and leaned forward. The two looked deep in each other's eyes, and Jacob revealed his own heart, “Aisha, all I’ve thought about since you walked in here was how this could be a real date. A real opportunity. When you were writing your thesis, at that chair, I kept remarking that I was glad it was you, not me doing the work.”
Aisha nodded, numbly waiting for him to continue.
“It’s because I wouldn’t be able to focus that hard with you that near me. Aisha, I’ve got feelings for you,” Jacob’s voice dropped an octave, his intensity turning nearly gravelly. Aisha, felt herself moved. Imperceptibly, nearly unconsciously, Aisha leaned forward. Time seemed to slow for Jacob as, heart firmly pounding, he made his move.
Jacob leaned forward, his hands intertwined with Aisha’s. Somewhere during their confession, she had turned her palms upward, and he had wrapped his long fingers around her shorter, more delicate digits. Eye contact growing intense, they could feel each other’s breath tickling their respective faces, so close were they. Finally, Aisha blinked. And Jacob kissed her. Aisha’s eye’s opened, but they saw nothing as invisible fireworks rocked the couple. Electricity ran up and down Aisha’s spine, and she felt more than heard his breath exit his lungs and enter hers. All too soon, Jacob pulled away.
Aisha, **** for the moment to end and sanity to take its place, grabbed Jacob’s strong shoulders and pulled him closer. The two kissed until lack of oxygen **** them to break.
