Tinkerbats

The small, pitch-black, humanoid creatures that work for Risky Boots and before her, The Pirate Master. No matter how many Shanate defeats, they keep coming. Send them flying, they come. Dunk them in lava, they come. Make them disappear in a puff of smoke, they come. Loyal to their master, the tinkerbats march foward working for whatever goal their master desires.

But what are they? Who are they? Where do they come from? Do they even die or just teleport away, reappearing once more? Are they made or created? No one knows as they are difficult to capture and hold safely. Without orders or their fellows nearby, they seem to fall into a state of torpor or hibernation. This has lead to several rumors and myths about them.

The popular one is about the 'Source' of the Tinkerbats. The two notable masters have to get them from somewhere but who or what is it? Some have muttered about some dark pool that spawns them and the grim dangers of those that fall in. Others talk about the Tinkerbat 'Mother', some living being that spawns or summons them into the world. Still others whisper that they are the shadows or left behind fractures of the Genies that had left the lands so long ago, spawned by cracked lamps or ruined relics.

While there's other rumors like what they eat, how they think, or why they follow; the rumor of where they came from is by far the most popular one to chat about at bars, back room games, rumor mills and tall tells.
