Chapter 29 by Cantalope Cantalope

What's next?

Time to wake up

"......abine? Sabine!" You stir weakly, muscles sore from lying on the wood floor for so long. "Hm...?" Indra the witch leans over you, shaking your shoulders. She was rather beautiful for a witch you thought, not at all like the stories. An idea strikes you: your Master would surely enjoy-"Sabine!" You frown irritatedly, "Yes, what?" Indra slumps back, letting out a long breath of relief. "I've been trying to wake you up for the last hour, your battle with the demon was taking too long. Did you succeed?" Even now the details of the dream are fading in a swirling mess of shadows and demon jizz, the only part you remember for certain: You now belonged to your Master. All but officially, he had said.

"Sabine? Did. You. Succeed." You realize you were biting your lip at the memory and it seems to have put Indra on edge. You notice the dagger she was fingering and quickly respond, "Yes, Yes! I won!" You scoot away from the potentially murderous witch, thinking quickly, "I just... he hit me with some kind of lust spell, I haven't gotten it out of my system just yet." Indra narrows her eyes at you but after a tense moment she sheaths the dagger and offers you a hand up. Letting out a sigh of relief you take it.

A distant scream echoes in your mind and you jump, letting go of Indra's hand. She snatches your wrist before you can get away and intensely scrutinizes your palm. You let her out of shock more than anything else and a pit of rage forms in your belly. Had this bitch done something to hurt your baby? After a moment, Indra looks up with a relieved expression and sees the anger on your face. She holds up a talisman concealed in the hand she'd offered you, "Old Janei talisman, demons can't stand the touch. If you had lost and the demon were your master it would have burned your skin." You pull your hand away and she raises an eyebrow, "I take it the demon still felt the talismans effect?" You bite your tongue on the string of vitriol your motherly side wanted to unleash on her and instead wave it off, "Yeah, he... it screamed. It... surprised me."

Indra seems to accept your explanation and goes about cleaning up the ritual while you lean heavily against the doorframe. You felt... different from when you'd gone to sleep. Well. Obviously. But as the events of the dream faded to a vague memory your mind was having a difficult time reconciling the anger and fear of the old Sabine with the acceptance and... joy you were experiencing now. It was like a switch had been flipped in your thoughts and the rest of your mind was still catching up. What were you even supposed to do now? After a little soul searching you tried to make a list:

  1. You needed to keep yourself safe, well fed and in shape to keep your son healthy.
  2. In order to do that, you needed to do the exact opposite of before and avoid Gerlangen, or any other abbey, like the plague.
  3. You were trained as a paladin even if you no longer had a god, so you were competent with a blade... but you were still alone and soon you'd need protection while your son matured.

You held your head in your hands as you tried to think of a way you could do all that, with an army of demons coming no less... A soft hand on your shoulder rouses you from your torpor and Indra looks down at you concernedly. At some point you had slid to the floor and were now huddled in a fetal position. You must cut a pathetic figure because Indra kneels down next to you, "It will be alright Sabine, you won. You rejected a demon, singlehandedly I might add. Now you can make it to the Abbey at Gerlangen before bearing the demon, I'm sure of it. But you will need to hurry."

You raise an eyebrow since that was the exact opposite of what you planned to do but smile gratefully at the news: your son would be born soon. Once he was with you in the real world... there was nothing he couldn't do. Feeling a particularly strong rush of joy from the thought, you pull a very surprised Indra into an embrace, "thank you Indra, for everything you've done for me." She hesitantly returns the hug, slowly relaxing into it as you nuzzle her neck. You recall the first thought you'd had when you awakened: Indra was quite beautiful. Maybe you could convince her to accompany you? You would enjoy her company immensely and she would be an excellent protector... As she relaxes her sizable breasts push against your own comparatively diminutive form and you feel a twinge of jealousy. Then again, did you really want another woman competing for your sons attentions? She'd also tried to "remove" your sons influence from your mind; a cold shiver rolls up your spine as you remember her intentions toward your offspring.

What does Sabine decide?
