Time to swim!

They spent some time enjoying the sun, or rather, Hailey enjoyed reading her book while Maya grew increasingly impatient. Eventually the fidgeting became too distracting for Hailey and she had to take mercy on Maya. They made their way down the beach, Maya doing her best to act normal as they did. The beach was a bit more populated now, most notably a group of young adults setting up camp not far away. Nonetheless, they made it to the water without any incident, although again Maya had to struggle to keep her arms at her side. But no one was really paying attention to them so far.

The water was nice and cool. It was different swimming in the open water. The waves crashing into them, the pull of the tide trying to drag them deeper. But Hailey and Maya were very experienced swimmers, so they had no trouble even when they were going quite far out. After some time they got closer to shore again, and Hailey noticed the group had moved into the water too and were throwing a ball around. "Oh, we should ask if we can join them!"

Maya, who had been looking at them too as they got closer, turned to her surprised. "You can't be serious."

"Of course I am, it will be fun."

"I will get found out instantly. Even if I look the part, I don't sound like it."

"Just lower your voice a bit, oh and pick a new name."

"No way, I'm..." Maya's protests suddenly got cut off by the ball landing in the water right beside them, splashing water all over her.
