What happens next?
Time to meet her dad
You keep staring at your reflection, completely lost as your mind attempts to make sense of what you’re seeing. How could this woman looking back at you be you? You can admit you’ve never been the most masculine looking man, but could have never imagined that you were just one quick makeover away from looking like this.
You almost miss the quiet tapping at the door, which eventually pulls your attention in just enough time to hear Olivia’s footsteps moving away.
You take a deep breath, knowing it’s time to put this ridiculous plan into action. Your hand trembles as you place it on the handle, you slowly open the door, peaking your head out to make sure the coast is clear before fully exiting the bathroom. You slowly step down the hall, feeling the cool air against your bare legs, you’ve never felt so strange walking around your own house before.
“Hey! There you are.” You hear Olivia’s voice.
You turn to see her standing in the living room. All the clothes that were covering the furniture are now pushed to the side, giving room to the man sitting on the couch.
“Dad,” She says, throwing back on her overly sweet voice. “This is my friend, Ashly. She’s been living with me.”
You have no time to dwell on the fact that you’ve just been given a new name, as the man stands up, turning towards you.
“Nice to meet you!” He says with a smile.
You find yourself slightly intimidated, as he stands tall with broad shoulders. He definitely seems to be someone who works out, as he holds out his muscle thick arm.
You stop yourself from giving back a verbal greeting, you simply try to make your smile seem much less nervous than you feel, while you reach out and take his hand. His grip is strong and firm, holding you for a moment before releasing you.
“You always have such pretty friends, Olivia” He says.
You can feel your face getting warm, is he making you blush?
“I do! I’m always jealous.” Olivia says, giving you a quick, knowing smile.
“Well, I hope you don’t mind me intruding. I’ll only be here for a few days.” He says to you. You can tell where Olivia gets her smile from, as you find yourself similarly comforted by it.
“She doesn’t mind, and you’re not intruding at all, Daddy.” Olivia says. “I’ve got your room all ready, so why don’t you go ahead and get settled, while I clean all this stuff up.”
Olivia attempts to lead her dad off, though he pauses.
“Well, I’m assuming your second bedroom is now Ashly’s room.” He says inquisitively. “Where is she going to stay?”
Olivia pauses, clearly not catching that hole in her deception. It would be strange if two platonic friends slept in the same room after all. You actively watch her brain at work, attempting to come up with an answer.
“I’m taking the couch.” You say. You speak softly and as high pitched as you can, praying that it doesn’t sound too weird. “I promise I don’t mind.”
You can feel sweat building on your forehead as he looks at you.
“Well, that’s very nice of you.” He says, bringing back his defined smile. “I promise I’d take it, if I only had a younger back.”
You give a polite laugh, hoping it sounds girly enough.
“Well here.” He says reaching into his pocket. “I hope this will help make up for it.” He holds out a fifty dollar bill.
Unsure of what else to do, you sheepishly take it.
He reaches over, grabbing his rather large bag, before moving down the hall.
“I guess I’ll see you all in a little bit.” He says.
He enters the room, closing the door behind him. You’re suddenly, excitedly embraced by Olivia in a cheerful hug.
“You were amazing!” She whispers. “He definitely bought it.” She pulls away from you, fully gleaming. “And your voice! I almost forgot who you were.”
You feel a strange sense of pride, that you were able to successfully pull it off.
“Keep this up and we’re golden!” She says.
The reality of having to stay like this the whole time he’s here begins to sink in.
“Maybe I could go stay at a hotel or something.” You say, finally thinking of a more practical plan.”
“It’s too late for that now. He’d take it personally and just make this whole stay awkward.” She says.
“More awkward than this?” You start to argue, but are quickly shushed.
“Relax, we’ve already done the hard part.” Olivia says. “I’ll pick out some outfits for you while I put these clothes back. All you have to do is keep being your sweet, pretty self.”
She playfully strokes the side of your face before moving towards the pile of clothes.
“You know, I wasn’t sure if this would work, but I can tell he likes you.” She says.
You want to feel relieved, but you can’t break the reality of having to keep this all up. You can’t imagine what the next few days will be like.
